    Marriage as Downtime

About a month ago, we were sitting around trying to figure out what to do for February's theme. As a joke we started talking about love, pretty soon the joke wasn't a joke and we had 5 articles planned out. Here is the first, adding a bit to character narrative arc's by giving simple rules to...

    Phased Boss Fights

During the first month of the blog we posted an article about designing boss encounters with "Phased Boss Fights." Borrowing an idea from video-games (mainly World of Warcraft boss fights, and my more recent experience in Dragon Age Inquisition), in my own game (we were in high level D&D mode...

    New Planar Race

Over at the blog it's Outer Planes month, so I made up a race inspired a bit from the Bariaur and the Devaronians. As usual my wife did the art, and my writing partner pitched in with some ideas. http://forgotmydice.com/index.php/2016/01/25/power-couple-of-the-planes/

D&D 5E High Level D&D and Shackled City

Oh I agree with high level D&D, honestly this was my first GM experience with it. As they say, you can't be told what the Matrix is, you have to experience it for yourself. The experience was enlightening to say the least. The biggest lesson I learned is what high level D&D is. There are a...

D&D 5E High Level D&D and Shackled City

Hey over at my blog I put together some thoughts on high level D&D and the Shackled City adventure path. http://forgotmydice.com/index.php/2016/01/22/campaign-post-mortem-dd-5th-edition-shackled-city-adventure-path/ TLDR - 10+ level D&D gets progressively more crazy, D&D5E is easy to convert...

New Rogue Archetype: The Physician (Expert in Medieval Medicine)

Also I'm not saying that all spec's need to be built to be on par with "the best" spec in a class. But you have to remember your asking a player to play your spec, when they could take "the best" you should make the option attractive. In this case your asking a player to give up damage ability...

New Rogue Archetype: The Physician (Expert in Medieval Medicine)

I like this a lot, but please do not listen to anybody who says this path is over powered, it is severely the opposite. There is the thing a lot of people do looking at Spec's they look at it by itself, and not with the moving parts of the other class abilities. Which given a lot of paths are...

    Planar Druid

My business partner wrote it, my wife nailed the art this week, and I rode along and provided support and snarky comments. Please check it out! http://forgotmydice.com/index.php/2016/01/18/druids-of-the-great-wheel/

D&D 5E Campaign Idea Reptilian Invasion!

I got sucked into the world of David Icke when working at a book store a few years ago. This is the result of that madness! http://forgotmydice.com/index.php/2016/01/04/reptile-man-conspiracy/

    Planar Riftcutter Barbarian Path

My partner in crime Trevor wrote it, and my wife as always did the art for the site. I helped, specifically it was my idea to make the ladies hair pink, and to make the tribe "like the Mandalorians" and open to every race! http://forgotmydice.com/index.php/2016/01/11/riftcutter-barbarian/

Unique Elemental Boss Encounter 5th Edition

For our last article for our Winter theme, I made up a Elemental intended to be a "boss monster." The encounter design has 3 parts, I'll leave the first part of the fight here, but if you want the rest head on over to the site...

    Holiday Rules for 5th

Here is an example of a Holiday archetype in D&D, for several more examples check out the link. Charity Celebrants are expected to either spend time helping the needy or to make large donations to worthy causes. One or both may be available, at the DM’s preference. If volunteer work is the...

Cold Based Rogue - Frozen Skull Assassin

Hey there, my friend and I have a little D&D blog, here is a Cold/Necrotic based Rogue Archetype I made for it. Frozen Skull Assassin Assassins come from many walks of life, and their motivation to kill is usually money, power, pleasure, or a combination of the above. The Frozen Skull...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Do me a solid apologize to Shanna, I meant to ask more questions during her AMA but life got in the way. I'm very excited about No Thank You Evil, I've been looking for my first RPG's for awhile now that I have spawn. How similar are the Cypher and NTYE systems, for example if for some reason...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

I gotta ask Monte, you keep talking about the modified OD&D game you are running. I've always had this strange fascination with my Rules Cyclopedia so I gotta know. How have you modified your game? I vaguely remember a blog post somewhere kinda talking about it, but it wasn't that specific.

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

How is the progress on the Torment game? If I remember correctly your going to work on that a bit, is that part done, and if so how do you feel about it? One of the things I have grown to appreciate in my old age is giant super adventures. I'm currently working through a 3rd Edition adventure...

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

Second Question - There have been a lot of awesome RPG's that have come out this year, along with the Cypher System (You have caused me to lose Wife Faction personally ;p ). Anything new that you enjoyed?

AMA with Monte Cook (Numenera, D&D, Monte Cook Games, Malhavoc Press)

I really enjoyed the Cypher System Rulebook, are there any plans to expand that line? I'd love to see a companion book that expanded the genre chapter quite a bit.

AMA with Shanna Germain (author, editor, co-owner of Monte Cook Games, lead designer of No Thank You, Evil!)

As a retail store owner I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Kickstarter. You guys are much more supportive of retail locations than a lot of other kickstarter companies, so thank you very much for that.
