Who still plays older versions of D&D?

You really need a "Never, ever would I play a prior edition" option. I think it would be very revealing. So, that said, I would never consider DMing a prior edition. But maybe, just maybe, I might do it if someone else DMed and came up with the idea. The wonky rules of 1E and 2E used to...

Rolling for Alignments..Rain-man players have a conniption!

Seems like pre-gen PCs to me :) Or at least a major piece is pregen. It could definitely be fun - in past campaigns, upon PC death, I've handed players random pre-gen characters to play temporarily. Anyhow, I would never start most campaigns out this way. Player choice is what it's about...

How much profanity in your game?

As much as needed and plenty :) Nobody in my group is that easily offended...

    Bard's Gate (Necromancer Games)

wow! Is very, very cheap. You can't go wrong especially at that price. I've read it once through - minor nitpicky things (such as the map not being labeled with the city name), but otherwise great book.

    Bard's Gate (Necromancer Games)

I recommend it quite a bit. It never received much publicity, but it's a solid city sourcebook and won't cost you $100 like Ptolus. YOu can probably find a copy for $25 or so.

    Popular Campaign Settings

Wilderlands of High Fantasy It's probably equal in my book with: - IRon Kingdoms - Planescape

How often have you used Beholders?

2nd edition - I ran the Eye Tyrant adventure series. So for a few months I presented roughly 25 beholder-types as enemies. Crazy. They're pretty complicated, not to mention deadly so I don't think I've actually had one in combat (used a couple as insane PCs providing info) for years.

XP progression: too fast, too slow, or just right?

I've taken to using the XP chart from the Wilderlands Players Guide. Essentially, slowing advancement by 1/2. Seems to work nicely.

How many city products do you have?

City State of the Invincible Overlord - NG BArd's GAte - NG Haven't picked up Ptolus yet but I'm thinking it will be a xmas present.

Do players need something cool every level?

True20 does the whole "feat every level" thing well. However, in D&D I've never really seen it as a gamebreaker. I think if you keep interesting scenarios, rewards, etc. coming then it doesn't so much matter

    Expedition to Castle Ravenloft

Yeah, I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff. I'll probably buy it.

Define Core Only for your game

No such thing in my game except most everything goes from: - PHB - DMG - Arcana Evolved After that it's DM approval and working w/player.

    would you....

eh, not usually Generally, my line for suspending disbelief is in the vaguely humanoid realm. It wouldn't fit well in my campaigns.

    Memorable Dragons

doing away with standard chromatic Honestly, the most memorably dragons I've put out there as a DM usually break the rules for your standard chromatic D&D dragons. Anymore, I try to make them unique creatures. Keeps the PCs always guessing as to what they're facing, breath weapon, magic, etc...

Why do people pretend CR makes sense?

I do use CR/EL but only as a rough gauge. I have to admit that I roughly track CRs encountered by the party and estimate a 'right' amount of XP depending on how I think the party did. So, I agree that it is more 'art' than 'science.' It only 'makes sense' to me in that it gives me a starting...

Wilderlands of High Fantasy - Wots...Uh The Deal?

PG Wilderlands Couple notes regarding the Player's Guide since I'm reading through this to prep for my new campaign. 1) Most of the 'new' classes I don't really see as necessary. I may allow the Amazon, but I think Barbarian works just fine especially if you don't plan on using psionics (I...

Wilderlands of High Fantasy - Wots...Uh The Deal?

So...just to echo what others have said, I cannot recommend WoHF boxed set enough for all the reasons above. CSIO is also priceless. The Player's Guide is the weakest of the products in my opinion, but has great flavor text in it. The extra classes I can do without and the monster section...
