Prestige classes for the Favored Soul? Major in Healing, Minor in Combat or Buffing

What you need is a Wand of Cure Light Wounds, or better yet, a Wand of Lesser Vigor. When you have that, take another. After that, another. There, your healing needs are accounted for. Now use that Favored Soul with its few spells known for something that's actually useful!

Bard Prestige Class for the Musically Inclined?

Sublime Chord is really all about the casting (even though it still improves your music). Excellent feats for it include: Melodic Casting (basically a must have for a bard, IMO), Doomspeak (if you're neutral or evil), Words of Creation (if you're good), Mindsight (if you have telepathy, e.g...

    The details in the Devil

I absolutely don't see how you cannot add class levels! Whyever wouldn't you do that? There are even PrCs that are specifically for fiends! Fiend Folio is a good place to start looking. Things to make the Kyton tougher apart from levels: feat selection, followers/hangers-on, equipment (including...

    Help Improving "fetch" quests

...and in the Middle Ages, the perfectly fine silver denarii from two towns over were worth exactly nothing at the local market, because the local merchants were heavily fined if they accepted them. You first needed to exchange your coin for local specie - at one of the authorized moneychangers'...

    Crusader question

One note on doing all of this in actual at-the-table play: use cards. Make (write, print, laminate, whatever) a bunch of cards, one for every maneuver you know. Of these cards, pick the five that represent your maneuvers readied when your character does their five-min-meditation thingy. At the...

    *groan* Cohort Questions.

The way I handle Leadership is quite DM-control heavy, and relies on the assumption that cohorts are just NPCs like everybody else. Usually, the player describes to me roughly what they would like ("a melee bruiser", "a utility caster", "an intelligent problem-solver guy" etc.: no classes...

    How to deal dexterity damage?

There's so many ways, it really depends on what you plan to throw at the PCs. As usual, spellcasters have the easiest time (Shivering Touch has been mentioned and is a powerful option, but there are many others). A lot of monsters deal ability damage, often via poison, sometimes using other...

    Aquatic Magics and Invocations

Ah, so it's more about what would be useful invocations for an aquatic creature, then? Well, basically, everything that's good anyway, with a few notable exceptions: Fell Flight and other movement-related invocations (Spider Climb, Leaps and Bounds...) aren't as good if you move in three...

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

I agree with your sentiment (although I never argued you have to take another, potentially distracting, action - only that you have to be able to act at all). So what now, you any closer to deciding which spell it'll be? Do you lean more toward general applicability, combat power, or a bit of both?

    Enhancements, Enchantments, Racism.

Enchanting a weapon can only be done with a masterwork weapon, which must be forged as masterwork - correct. You can pile on as much as a +10 equivalent in enchantments, and every single enchantment can be at most +5 equivalent pre-epic. That means you can get yourself a +1 Human Bane Flaming...

    Aquatic Magics and Invocations

First starting point should be Stormwrack, a supplement devoted to aquatic campaigns. It doesn't have Invocations afaik, but there's only one that's of interest: Swimming the Styx (Least, allows water breathing 24h and grants a swim speed equal to your land speed; Complete Mage).

In search of certain spells.... isoChron: STAY OUT!

Many spells that stun or paralyze their targets could be explained via "the other guy becomes kinda reaaaally slow". Other stuff that could easily be construed to use a time-based mechanic: Ray of the Python, Sakkratar's Triple Strike, Gentle Repose, Solid Fog, hell, even Teleport.

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

As for the first part, the action you combine with your 5-foot step doesn't have to be casting a spell, or using a weapon. It doesn't have to be anything that "distracts" you. In fact, while we all know turn-based combat is a huge abstraction, I like to imagine a character's combat turn as the...

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

Actually, yes, that makes perfect sense to me (except for the doing jumping jacks and dancing a jig part): normally, people move normally. I.e., people take a move action. In some cases, most importantly when you find yourself in a melee, you don't want to move normally, though - you just want...

D&D 5E Will you pay $50.00 for the "standard" PHB?

No. I'm of the opinion that a book that won't let you play the game on its own (you still need the other big two) isn't worth 50 bucks. I bought all three 3.0 base books for 50 (Euros, but still) in a bundle when it was fresh. This might have been my local gaming store's way to hook up new...

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

Well, the clearest I can make it is that the infamous 5-foot step is neither a kind of action, nor is it not-an-action. Instead, it is something that can be done when you take certain actions, but not others. Looking through all the mentions of the 5-foot step in the SRD search for the term, it...

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

No 5' steps like others said, but even if those were possible, three rounds of dazing equals death in high level play. This is not about keeping the opposition where they are, this is about denying them actions of any kind, including purely mental stuff, supernatural abilities, words of recall...

Can a good creature be fiendish and can an evil creature be celestial?

I seem to remember hearing a story somewhere about a powerful angel who turned to darkness and fell into evil. I believe his name means "Lightbearer" in some ancient tongue. I could be mistaken, though... Seriously: if you have to ask, you don't understand what the rules of the game are for...

    Immortal

There's at least two spells in FR supplements that could help you out. One is in Champions of Ruin and basically sucks the lifeforce from other beings (which are instantly slain) while making you younger in the process. The other is a spell (in Lost Empires of Faerun?) that permanently turns the...

Spell Selection for a Bard/Sublime Chord

Agree with all except PW:K. That's more or less the single weakest 9th level spell, because a) you need to know the target's HP total, and b) it only works against foes that have already been weakened, and c) it's mind-affecting and a death effect, so it won't work against quite a few monsters...
