D&D 5E Yet another "Solution to Rests" thread

You're only supposed to get 2-3 per long rest (according to the DMG), so you'd triple the resources at max; maybe multiply by 2.5 and round up to call it good. As far as I've seen, there's no stated intention that some short-rest resources are balanced around or meant to have more short rests...

D&D 5E Yet another "Solution to Rests" thread

I have an idea. Get rid of short rests entirely! Double the short-rest resources that some classes have, and call it a day (pun totally intended). This whole thing is a self-made problem with 5e, and I hope it's blown away in the next edition.

    5e Forum error?

Could have been a time when the site was busy. It goes down several times a week for me, and is *really* slow (like, 10 seconds to load a page) about half the time.

    Reporting a rape fantasy ad

Better to block the ads entirely until the industry gets it's stuff straightened out. I understand a site owner wanting some kind of income from it, but people have had two decades to figure it out. Just block it.

D&D 5E No love for the hand axe?

I think it's time for D&D to get rid of weapon damages entirely. Individual weapons should dictate range and types of special abilities they can use (sneak attack, 2-handed, etc), but actual damage should be based on Class. For example, a Fighter should do more damage with a longs word than a...

    D&D 5E A New Culture?

I think what frustrates people who are against the even playing field for race/class combos is that it's overly-homogenized to the point of trivializing your race. There should be more disadvantages associated with playing something like a Dwarven Wizard because they *are* supposed to be...

WotC Names 10 "Adepts" On Their DMs Guild Store

Most of these people are already "marketable." WotC's strategy here isn't that they make the best adventures or anything, despite what they claim. There's even an unusual gender split which I seriously doubt reflects most player's experiences in the real world.

    D&D 5E A Scale for my map

Based on the way you've drawn the mountains, your map scale isn't going to naturally look kind of small. I'm seeing islands, personally. If you want those to be actual continents, it would be a good idea to soften the mountains out so you can't see peaks. Alternatively, you can draw the...

D&D 5E What non-combat abilities should fighters have?

A few things stand out to me, but they mostly boil down to political influence. Certainly all high level adventurers would provide a sense of awe to everyone else, but a "fighter" is sort of unique in being relatable to the common man. Barbarians are savages, even if one occasionally serves...

    Creating magic items in 5e

I tinkered with a system where great deeds could "upgrade" a normal item into a magic one. Critical killing blows or taking critical hits could contribute towards a particular weapon or armor becoming enchanted, for example. I had some hidden things as well, like paladins defending the weak...

One that doesn't go down faster than a prom date in Alabama.

    D&D 5E Low-level Party going Underwater.

The thing with magic is that casters generally need to be able to recite incantations, perform precise physical manipulations, and interact with reagents. About the only one of those that seems remotely possible would be the second one, or somatic. That said, Jeremy Crawford's tweet on the...

    D&D 5E Low-level Party going Underwater.

You're call, but keep in mind that ballistics are trash underwater. A modern compound bow can launch an arrow maybe 10 feet, but there's really not enough power to pierce much past a few of those feet. For a best-case scenario, consider how modern spearguns usually operate in the 3-7 (about 25...

    D&D 5E Low-level Party going Underwater.

Don't go overboard on trying to simulate the difficulties of exploring and fighting underwater. Otherwise it's a rabbit hole of problems. Just keep to the basic system of granting disadvantage to most melee attacks (other than maybe thrusting attacks), no ranged, limited vision, and very slow...

D&D 5E The classes that nobody wants to play

I'm surprised by the monk score. My groups always seem to have one, or someone wishing they created one. I wonder if it's a mechanical or thematic problem?

D&D 5E Flaming sphere or avoided area

Flaming Sphere, and spells like it, seem to come in two flavors. 1st: They do damage when you cast the spell, and if they *end* their turn in the area. 2nd: They do no damage immediately, but the effect is triggered if the *start* their turn in the area. The timing difference between the two...

AAAACK, Where did my dark subdued classic look go?

I looked into it a month ago, as posted here. Basically, the elements for wiki threads are generated and styled dynamically when the page loads, so there's no workaround (that I've found). It's up to Morrus to configure the theme, although it's possible the theme is so old that there's no GUI...
