Response In response to the tree magic, isn't that like path magic? If so, how about the Spellweaver from the Advanced Players Guide, a wonderful path magic class. One of the most balanced third party classes.

Looks Great This is a great class! If you would like to tweak it a little bit. There is a similar prestige class in Dragonmarked.

My Other I believe that PrCs should be slightly more powerful than the norm for their one niche, but other wise slightly weaker. Therefore, the player is sacrificing versatility for a certain thing their character is good at. This stops players from needing to play PrCs or be weaker.

My Opinion Once one hits level 10 spells break everything and I can't think of a way to fix that without destroying spellcasters. I was just giving a system that makes level gaining longer, but gives some abilities every fifth of a level. And yes i have read how to make games 10+ not broken...
