D&D 5E The Sun Blade is a Lightsaber?

You guys are very much missing the Thundarr the Barbarian link to this sword. It has nothing to do with a lightsaber.

    D&D 5E The Boxer

Wouldn't taking a half-orc monk give you close to the same thing?

    Favorite D&D Retroclone?

Basic Fantasy RPG is my favorite.

    Pre-WotC editions inquiry

Another good Basic set clone that is free to download (with pictures and all, as opposed to the free version of LL) is Basic Fantasy RPG. Though it has ascending AC, and separates race and class.

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

To the player, the published adventure is a non-starter. They're in the adventure whether its a published one, or one the DM created. The published adventure is there to assist novice and/or ill-prepared DM's in playing a pick-up game. Either way you go, the DM will eventually start creating...

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

Well consider. The basic rules were always sold with an adventure module to take the beginning characters through. 4E is actually the fourth edition of the Advanced rules system. I would like to see the break again with 5E. Start with the basic rules, then expand to the Advanced rules. Two...

    How many "subclasses"/builds per class?

Yeah, the Monk is a bare-hands fighter with loose ties to the cleric class. You could almost sub-class a pugilist and martial artist in that class. Though not all Monks fight without weapons. Or dispense with the Monk and just go with the Pugilist and Martial Artist as a sub-class of fighter.

    How many "subclasses"/builds per class?

Like I said, the idea is just a work in progress thrown out there for people to chew on. I'd like to see the cleric less of a spellcaster, and more of a holy-man. That would open him up to sub-class in just about any of the other classes. If he wanted to sub-class in fighter, he would be a...

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

Its Morgansfort from BFRPG. Its a free download, so it was easily accessible. The first dungeon in that one is for beginning players.

    How many "subclasses"/builds per class?

See my ideas about a re-tooled cleric on this forum and on the D&D Next forums at WotC. The Paladin as a Cleric makes sense in that light. The basic idea is, clerics would no longer cast "spells". They would be given "miracles" by their deity according to the domains that deity has...

    Starting Reclaiming Blingdenstone (playtest report)

Well I guess that's good if the system of measurement is one of your only three gripes. The writers probably don't even think about the measurement system. Perhaps you should mention that when they send out the surveys. If it was me, I would just make a 1:1 conversion. 1' equals 1 meter and...

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

I have to admit this is my first use of a canned adventure. I've GMed Star Wars D6, Wushu, FASA Star Trek, GURPS, and Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game (D&D Basic clone). This adventure I'm taking the boys through is the first canned one I've used.

    How many "subclasses"/builds per class?

I would go with this: Cleric (Paladin, Priest, Monk, Shaman) Fighter (Ranger, Warlord, etc.) Rogue (Assassin, Bard, Acrobat, etc.) Wizard (artificer, binder, sorcerer, etc.) Given my idea in another thread, I would put the Warlock in the Cleric stack.

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

Published adventures have their place. The new DM, who hasn't quite got the creative juices flowing yet, or who don't have the time to properly prepare before the first session can use them effectively. They're easy to tweak by simply pulling out the monsters that are in them, and replacing...

    The Cleric's Channel Divinity

That's exactly what I was after... simplification. Cleric "spells" are eliminated in favor of the whole "divine favor" thing. Cleric "spells" are works of miracles given to them by their deity, and only within the domain the deity works in. It simplifies it greatly. The only "spells"...

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

Wow. I like that. I may have to steal it. It gives the players a part in the narrative, and it gives them some say in the creation and drive of the game world.

D&D 5E How much should 5e aim at balance?

You may very well be right about me there. I haven't played 2E. I've played 1E and Pathfinder. I've studied the rules system for BECMI. I've actually DMed Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game, which is actually based on 3E with a B/X flavor to it. Based on my experience there, I found really no...
