Rules heavy = bad; light = good

I like both rules-heavy and rules-light. I've thought about this over night, and I suspect I get the most fun out of rules-heavy -- but that's just me. Perhaps it's a feature of my demographic, as others have suggested (old)? I've no idea. I cannot tell whether I will like a game or not...

Are high attributes more fun then low attributes?

Neither answer works for me. I can and have had fun in either situation. I just don't have a preference in this area.

Are tabletop RPGs becoming more popular again?

By every account I've ever heard -- I am sure you are right! For one thing, hobby conventions are a LOT more fun. But -- we might get more donuts!

Are tabletop RPGs becoming more popular again?

Hmm. Haven't noticed that last point in the conventions/symposia I attend. But then, I attend the stuffy, technical or scientific events -- which likely skews my observations far from the norm.

Are tabletop RPGs becoming more popular again?

I'd have to agree. Although I've never been, I have noticed over the past few years that marketing/pr for that event has definitely improved. Now-a-days, nearly impossible to remain unaware of where/when/how for that event. They're doing an excellent job.

    Anyone know what these are?

The dreaded double post. Nothing to see here ... move along.

    Anyone know what these are?

I remember them, but did not buy them. The memory is old and dim, but believe Shemeska's comments are spot on.

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

And best wishes to you. Sounds to me like you have your head on straight. It's good to know the world you live in ... and to have no unreasonable expectations.

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

This is quite true. I've worked in several states where non-competes are VERY enforceable in court. As Umbran states, Massachusetts is very much NOT one of those states.

Mari Kolkowsky (D&D Art Director) got laid off yesterday

Sadly, also quite logical. By the standards of corporate logic, at least.

Logical. Certainly matches my many decades of the corporate experience.:(

D&D 5E What are/will be the main beefs of D&D Next relative to other editions?

Seconded. Maybe even thirded. Like Mistwell, I've been around since the '70s and have played every single iteration of this game. Reading the rules doesn't help much -- you've got to play it to find out.* Why not try it? It won't hurt. [*This goes for many things in life. I was sure that...

Serious question - are you going to invest in D&DNext?

Agreed. Have given this some serious thought and finally decided this is the way I will go. In the meantime, still playing some Pathfinder and really enjoying Numenera.

Dragon 427 posted and Upcoming Hiatus

Wizards Transitioning to a new community site 9/9

Thank you, sir. Sadly, do not like. I'll try again in a month.

Fan sites to keep the edition alive?

It's all the extra potassium in your fruit-based diet. Seriously, no reason 4E can't maintain its hold here. Makes perfect sense to me.

    Difference From 10 Years Ago?

I may have mentioned elsewhere that I am ... not young. But last week, my middle daughter was passing through the lunchroom at her corporate offices. The IT folks were gathered in a corner chatting. As she passed by, they grew a bit quieter but she heard them mumbling about a D&D game they...

    Difference From 10 Years Ago?

3.5. Old School. Thank you for the laugh.:) Today, I needed it badly. Perhaps, this weekend, I'll pull out a murder puppet or two and play some genuine Old School D&D.
