4e for couples, OMG your GF rolled a char ?!

I would have my GF play 2 characters in a "solo" campaign. combat can be so much more interesting.

Warrior of the Wild quarry valid till end of encounter?

proto is right- It would be unfair and basically every character who didnt want to multiclass would end up picking this up as a feat anyways.

    Game day adventure

AH thats what went wrong. the DM told us too much- which statues would reanimate and one of the players tied them both up before we triggered it. was that supposed to be part of it or did the DM improv that? i think at our store he used the dragon encounter to teach combat before the adventure.

    Game day adventure

EDIT: sorry for the negative vibe, seems our DM was really phoning it in. Did anyone else think this adventure was too easy? My DM was kind of half assing it, but we werent even close to challenged by the combat. got a fistful of minis out of it tho!

    Well that was fun...

yeah, if youre not getting +2 to your main stat the other bonuses of a race dont matter.

    Twin strike=2 magic missiles?

Can a wizard multi into ranger (the paragon way), pick up twin strike as his at-will, hold a bow to meet the twin strike's condition, and use it to shoot 2 magic missiles? MM says it can replace a basic ranged attack. Doesnt twin strike let you make 2 ranged basic attacks?

Question about Hunter's Quarry and Twin Strike

seems like its the best at will for almost any character. with warrior of the wild being the best multiclass bonus (because the hunters quarry lasts until the enemy goes down) I think a lot of people will multi into ranger.

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

adding to what nifft said, someone did a stat analysis of the MM. things go up in a very specific pattern. one of the things they did to balance 4E was keep everything tight within the d20. that is, talking about to-hit, theres no more stacking your weapons bonus with a +3 luck bonus from...

    Feats and the "Awesome!" Factor

that is true of one encounter. but I think you missed the point- characters will need to win 5+ combats of similar level without full rests. failure happens quite often with even with moderately skilled play: look at keep on the shadowfell's infamous A3, or the black dragon encounter from...

UBER Dragonborn Fighter or Paladin Defender...we can build him!

i would also go with the same stats as above. unless you want to go 20 str, which i think is a mistake. the 18 in cha with multiclassing is still going to let you have more options. con just isnt that important in 4E you can go 18,18, 13 (con) and eventually get plate armor. i think the...

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

your DM isnt playing the mobs to their potential if they dont go after the easiest kill.

UBER Dragonborn Fighter or Paladin Defender...we can build him!

you can make a d-born pally with str and cha of 18, and have 12, 12, 10, 8 for your othe stats. that lets the pally multiclass into fey warlock for striker powers. so you have a defender main class, with striker powers and a great anti-minion controller power breath weapon which for 1 feat will...

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

i think the feats are worth it for basically all classes. feats are so cheap now. the problem is the 15 con and 15 str. i could see rolling a wizard with 13s in those stats and eventually getting plate at level 21.

D&D 4E An in depth rules discussion on the mechanical problems and breakthroughs of 4e

I think there is a ranger power that lets you swing until you miss. its not hard to set up a situation where the ranger only misses on a 1, and then the elven reroll ability can be used. depeding on assumptions ive seen average damage numbers around 600
