D&D 5E How would you ensure longevity and sustainability for 5th Edition?

    - Make a new Starter Set every other year, trying to make it better and better, and with a new themed adventure in it linked to a two-years long AP-backed plan 2 - publish a single book about the different existing Planes / Settings, about how they are connected, and how they can be used. Call...

D&D 5E Products You Would Like to See WotC Publish For 5E

Dungeon Magazine. Free short adventures (like they did for 3.x) And one Campaign Setting/year, each one with new archetipes and backgrounds that make it unique but do not mess with the general rules

D&D 5E How far can you nerf spellcasting and still consider it DnD5?

My campaign setting, Alfeimur, was designed to nerf magical powers during 3.x times. Arcane magic is wild magic and can summon magic storms. Divine magic is limited since the true Gods died and now only pale reflections are granting powers and so on. Now I'm struggling a little with adapting it...

D&D 5E Is 5th Edition Directly Descended from Star Wars Saga Edition?

I second this. They could use the Alternity brand name for it, and use the Star*Drive setting as a backdrop.

    Spelljammer Converting Spelljammer creatures

Did you already do spiritjams? I'm planning to run Dungeon magazine's Mammoth problems as a 5e adventure.

Specialization in 5E: Proposed House Rule

I kind of like it. I do not know if I would put 'increase the DC' on par with 'get a +1 bonus on damage', anyway.

D&D 5E Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I know, I didn't want to sound condescending. I had already posted a wish list of desired products in this thread, it's just that I really do not feel the need for rules supplements anymore (I had that urge back in the 3.x days, but it was a bad habit I dropped).

D&D 5E Light release schedule: More harm than good?

I remember back in the days we played for 10+ years with just the core AD&D rulebooks, the Forgotten Realms Adventures book and five issues of Dungeon Magazine. Still we created hundreds of spells, kits and magic items, without any need of 'official content'... Sometimes I wonder why people...

    D&D 5E Which non-Realmsian setting for you?

I voted Spelljammer, it is an amazing mind-opener. And Dragonlance, because it could still be made awesome.

D&D 5E Light release schedule: More harm than good?

Ok I guess it's time we all write down our ideal release schedule [emoji1] Mine includes: Dungeon Magazine (6 issues/year) Dragon Magazine (6 issues/year) 1 Campaign Setting book/year 1 Adventure book/year 1 Player's Options book/year 1 free adventure/month for the basic rules That's it.

    D&D 5E Legends & Lore - A Retrospective

Just a little info on a foreign market: Essentials was the product line that terminated the 15-years long relationship between WotC and 25th Edition, the Italian translator of D&D. They stopped publishing D&D products without even bothering to complete the Essentials product line (they never...

New PATHFINDER MINIS Include The Mimic!

I'm pretty torn about this. The OGL was great, and I sure want a new edition of that, but still I think it went too far in its scope. Turning tons of product identity monters (and spells, and items) into OGC really put the future of the business at risk... Anyway to answer your question: no...

D&D 5E Light release schedule: More harm than good?

D20 System, d20 System licence, OGL and OGC are all different (albeit related) things. A quick read of wikipedia (if not of the legal documents) can clarify that. I just had to point that out, sorry [emoji1]

    D&D 5E Legends & Lore - A Retrospective

I wonder if Mearls here One of our employees had come up with the initial idea which he used to work up an RPG system for his home group. was referring to Chris Perkins' AD&D 3rd edition, an amazing take at evolving AD&D.

New PATHFINDER MINIS Include The Mimic!

It still amazes me how such a peculiar monster was turned into OGL content and a competing company can now make money out of it. The miniature set looks brilliant, but I will never buy it.

D&D 5E How do you handle PC nobles?

I'm developing a full aristocrat class for my 5e campaign setting. The noble background will be nerfed and will grant full benefits only if you have 1 to 3 levels in the new class (which has archetipes such as the knight, the prelate and the ruler).

And then there were 8! On Chris Sims and Jennifer Clarke Wilkes' Layoffs...

I guess the last two posts are WAY off topic. Anyway, I love the way magic is managed in 5e. But 5e is mainly a ruleset for sword and sorcery - if you enjoy heroic fantasy better, then you should stick with 3e.
