D&D 5E Initial D&D Next Releases Showing Up on Barnes & Noble Website

All this B&N thing seems to me more and more a pricing strategy survey. if this is the case, WotC marketing has hired a genius.

D&D 5E Initial D&D Next Releases Showing Up on Barnes & Noble Website

What if the 50$ price point includes a 1-month DDI trial? That would be quite logical (just like Tomb Raider included 14 days of Xbox Live Gold): perceived price-reduction and subscription tease all in one step.

D&D 5E Initial D&D Next Releases Showing Up on Barnes & Noble Website

In other words, you can't really play 4e without the DMG. Back in the days a big selling point was: all you really need is a PHB and an issue of Dungeon Magazine. I guess in 4e it could have been 'all you really need is a PHB and a 1 month subscriptuon to DDI'. Of corse 20+ years of DMing...

D&D 5E Initial D&D Next Releases Showing Up on Barnes & Noble Website

Since we live in a strange world of asymmetrical monetary conversions, I will have to pay 50€ for n Italian translation of the PHB that will hopefully be printed before Xmas. But I will do that gladly. Since I already own 3 different DMG from different editions, I guess that no matter what I...

Can someone post the link to the Sec filings?

    D&D 5E Why I Think D&DN is In Trouble

Could feel strange to point it out after 38 pages of arguments, but the feel depends a lot on basic things like typography, paper quality and drawings. 4E books didn't meet the standards of 3.x books for me or my friends (we were used to books which resembled grimoires and suddenly were...

It's D&D's 40th anniversary. Tell me your D&D history, and what it means to you!

I agree... It all started in 1991, when after playing a gold box Mac game I entered an hobby shop in Milan called Unicorn (I guess) and bought the D&D black box. Before that fantasy had been Fighting Fantasy books and Shannara and the Lord of the Rings... After that it became Dragonlance and...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Worlds of D&D

I'm an old time fan of the Spelljammer setting and I find this fantastic. As an author it ties pretty well with what I've written in my past works and with what I'm planning to release for D&D Next (if the license will allow me some elbow space). ...I'm curious as hell about what Chris Perkins...

Do you like D&D or do you like RPGs?

We are pretty much a D&D-only group, and have been playing once a week since 91. This means we tryed several different flavours of D&D (from Rules Cyclopedia to Essentials) but we generally liked it more than all the other games we tryed - star wars d6, GURPS, warhammer, wh40k, fighting fantasy...

Giantcraft is my favorite. Didn't buy it when I was young, and ended up regretting it.

    SWEotE. So, who's got it?

In Italy it is not even available on Amazon... sigh. Wonder if/when someone will publish it in Italian. My players will need the translation to play it.

D&D 3E/3.5 Vote for the best 3E/3.5 official adventures!

3E was the time I went into writing my own setting and adventures, so I just remember Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (which was pretty bad) as a player. Dungeon adventures and WotC freebies were usually good: I fondly remember Lest Darkness Rise, Force of Nature and The Crumbling Hall...

    TORMENT - Tides of Numenera

Immutatio. That was rethoric and intended as a quick jab easily understandable by the general audience. The real legal claims about this situation are surely rock-solid, a software corporation surely had the kickstarter ad reviewd by its legal team before putting it online. Now I know for...

    TORMENT - Tides of Numenera

my point exactly. Hasbro paid for those rights so you pay Hasbro to use them or you spin a different story to sell your own project. This is what I was trying to explain: the moral right is not of these people, even if they worked on the project 15 years ago. I worked for a lot of projects in...

    TORMENT - Tides of Numenera

Or it will be pulled off for Patent infringment. Sorry but I can't feel happy about a project which so heavily depends on the work that the same people were paid to do years ago for a different company on a trademarked concept to even use an almost identical name. It just hurts my...

    TORMENT - Tides of Numenera

Am I the only one to think they are ripping off WotC IP (trans: stealing) to promote a computer RPG like any other? If I promised to deliver a new 'X-Wing-like' video game set in a universe 'similar' to the SW Galaxy and with 'nods' to the Trilogy, I bet Disney attorneys would rip me alive in 5...

Tell us about your favourite space RPG and why?

I've tried Star Wars d6, Alternity, GURPS Vorkosigan and Dark Heresy. SWd6 was a messy ruleset, WH didn't fit my group, GURPS didn't allow my players to use their beautiful dice, so I would stick with Alternity. I'm pretty interested in the 4e version of Santiago, though.
