    New stealth stuff from WotC

My problem with this ruling is that in an effort to "fix" a (non?)problem with the warlock, they have made an aspect of the game that should be fun and common and completely nerfed it. The fact that you have to totally block all line of sight to every opponent in order to "hide" harkens way too...

    New stealth stuff from WotC

But the rogue seen moving behind the pillar, because until he gets behind the pillar he can do nothing stealthily, is just some guy behind a pillar that you can't see but you know is there.

    New stealth stuff from WotC

Whereas that same rogue in an outdoor setting with light underbrush does...nothing.

    New stealth stuff from WotC

Wow, that is pretty...idiotic. You can only use stealth against an enemy against whom you have Total Concealment, which is defined as: "Total Concealment (–5 Penalty to Attack Rolls): You can’t see the target. The target is invisible, in a totally obscured square, or in a heavily obscured...

    Tac-Tiles: Gone for good?

Damn. I mean, thanks for the info.

    Tac-Tiles: Gone for good?

I guess I know the answer to this since a google search turned up nothing, but have Tac-Tiles gone the way of the Specialty Priest? Does anyone know if another company stepped in and produced a similar product?

    Why are healing surges limited?

Wow, that is just...mean. And I like it. I like it very much.

How does the monster recharge mechanic work?

Many monster powers have a 'recharge' value, usually 4-6 or 5-6. I understand that these numbers are the target numbers of a d6 roll (i.e., a recharge value of 5-6 means that if you roll a 5 or 6 on a d6 the power recharges and can be used again that encounter). My question is how often do you...

    Anyone know how concealment works?

I have seen a couple of references to 'concealment' in the 4e lite rules being posted. For example, being invisible grants 'conceal 11 against attackers that cannot see it.' The warlock summary also mentions concealment: Shadow Walk (move 3+ squares away on your turn, gain concealment until...

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: FINAL FIVE: PHB II, UA, Eberon, Ptolus, Pathfinder

Eberron. No one was more looking forward to Ptolus than I was, but in the end I was a little disappointed. There just didn't seem to be much thinking outside the box to me. Granted, it was billed as the 'ultimate 3e setting' and that's exactly what it was...and little more. Eberron...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 buying with 4E on the horizon

Exactly. Seems like such an obvious response that its omission from the poll is idiotic.

    All Alternative Classes Campaign Idea

I am running a game with almost all non-PHB classes and highly recommend it.

How do you like deities that were once mortals?

I always make up my own pantheons. In the current one, ALL of the gods but two (Death and Nature) are former mortals, although almost no mortal knows that.

    Alternate Grappling Rules?

I think that the core 3.5 grappling rules are unwieldy and slow the game down unnecessarily. Does anyone know of any good alternate rules for grappling, either from a 3rd party publisher or from an available set of house rules?

How do you like your Monster Manuals?

Classed monsters from other MMs is an idiotic waste of time. Honestly, is anyone who plays this game incapable of slapping 4 levels of rogue onto some stupid humanoid?

    Dragonlance: Our LotR?

My LotR is Stephen Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever. Read it in high school and it has shaped my view of fantasy ever since. Which, if you are familiar with the books, is a little scary. Never really got into DL. I just don't think they are very good writers, relying...

Save My Game - Goes off like a bomb!

Bull. My roommate just started playing Oblivion. When you walk up to an NPC you are given a choice of 2-4 things you are allowed to say. If your RPGs are like that then you are playing them wrong.

D&D is its own Genre of Fantasy?

I think D&D, if played exactly as written and with access to any book purchased, is its own genre at this point. However, I think each campaign has the potential to be a unique genre, or at least very different from Canon 3.5.

    Eberron's Worth...

This was only the 5th post in the thread. I think it is difficult to have 'way too much' of anything in 4 posts. In fact, there was only one instance of Eberron-basher-bashing in the first 4 posts.
