D&D 5E Thank you WoTc: I feel like 5th edition has brought the spirit back into D&D.

Yep! 5E is beautiful. D&D hasn't *felt* this good to me since the mid 1990s. Thanks WotC!

D&D 5E Do you allow adult situations in your games?

As a perpetual DM, I always give out a pdf for what I am comfortable running: Totally forbidden for the characters to do: rape, torture, slavery, gruesome violence Promised to not be inflicted on characters: rape, torture, slavery, gruseome violence To only be *vaguley* implied by story: rape...

D&D 5E What options from the DMG are you using?

Variant healing: A Long Rest doesn't recover all hit points, just half the hit dice. My players actually voted unanimously for this option. We love the greater feeling of danger. I notice others here seem to be using this healing variant as well.

    D&D 5E Best Virtual Table for 5E?

I use roll20 for my 5E campaign and it works great. I would certainly recommend trying it. Unfortunately, I have not used any other virtual tabletops and cannot give you comparisons.

    Top 10 Classic D&D Movies

Just remembered "The Warriors". Bop your way back to Coney, but in a fantasy sense. It has been very inspirational to my "travel" adventures.

D&D 5E Critical Hits and Fumbles

Roll a fumble and you have disadvantage on your next attack... brilliant! One more idea from ENWorld added to my game! Thanks!

"13th Warrior" has always seemed the most like D&D adventures I have played and run... or at least, how I'd hoped they'd run....

D&D 5E DMG Random Tables: Any luck for game material (especially maps?)

Good advice. I may have been letting the tables do all the work. Waht they make is... interesting. I'll try using them as a foundation and polish them up from there.

D&D 5E DMG Random Tables: Any luck for game material (especially maps?)

I LOVE random tables. And I am THRILLED by how many there are in the DMG. I've rolled some interesting results from the DMG tables, but not actually used them in game yet. I was particularly excited about the dungeon map tables, however all the maps I've rolled have been... well... unusable...

D&D 5E Anyone Using the Optional Initiative from the DMG?

Haven't learned how to quote properly Everyone rolls for initiative, and I'll say, "Ok everyone above X (x= monster's initiative) can go." Then I go, then I say, "OK, everyone else can go." *Yoink*!! I'm stealing this and using it in my next session! What understated brilliance! thanks...

15 Best D&D Modules Of All Time

So many great memories from the first (and subsequent) times around! But now quick, someone convert them all into 5E for me!

    D&D 5E BAM: Where's 5E??

This is merely anecdotal, but the BAM near me, right before Christmas, had several 5E DMGs displayed on a table right inside the front door. I don't know what that means in relation to the other information shared here. But I do know it made me happy to see them.

D&D 5E Do you use a DM screen?

My experience has been a little different in terms of players' attitdes. The group I run the most tells me they prefer to not be tempted to look at maps, charts, and such, so they prefer a short screen up. It is essentially a "we don't want to see behind the curtain" attitude. They do...

D&D 5E 5E has brought this old gmaer back to D&D after 8 years!

Hey Zaruthustran! I lived in Grayling until more recently, so we may have missed each other. That being said, my newer gamer friends in TC are from around here, so perhaps we are only one gamer removed? :) I still have 1 (only 1) of the crayon dice left, but I insist on using it still!

D&D 5E 5E has brought this old gmaer back to D&D after 8 years!

Hey Everyone, Thanks for the warm welcome to ENWorld! It's great to hear so many people love the old school feel of 5E and are back into D&D, too. See you all around here!

D&D 5E 5E has brought this old gmaer back to D&D after 8 years!

Hello ENWorld! I'm an older gamer brought back to the D&D family by the awesomeness that is 5E! I started RPGing back with 1E and Lone Wolf books (yes, they count!) I then played the heck out of 2E for a decade, and then 3E for a chunk of a decade, until the math started to bring me down. In...
