On flavour reasons alone, should longbows be exotic and repeating crossbows not?

Not only that, but Exotic doesn't necessarily mean "difficult to use." It can easily be construed (and arguably more likely) to mean the weapon is rare. You need special training to use an exotic weapon partly because you're unfamiliar with it. Repeating crossbows, no matter how easy to use...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

You can only get 1 AOO per provocation, but if the same character keeps provoking AOOs on the same turn and you've got AOOs left to make, I believe you can continue wailing on them for it.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Yeah, if I'd been designing it, that's probably what I'd have done, also, but then you'd be able to effectively sunder with it from reach too, and people already cry foul about it. I almost wonder if that's what the designers had in mind, but then decided being able to sunder with it was too...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

No, my answer was if you mindlessly walk towards the spiked chain wielder, knowing he'll mow you down when you try, that's dumb. You have to remember, the PC most likely to be able to do this is a Fighter (I suppose a wizard build to do this might be interesting to keep people away from you...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Again, though, only if they're stupid enough to consistently put themselves in a position to be tripped. Classed demihumans are often way too smart to fall for this trick more than once, and any DM who keeps mindlessly walking them towards the spiked chain fighter should have their DM-card...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

I think you're pretty severely autistic at that point. That might be fun to roleplay. I'm currently playing a spiked chain fighter, but at the moment he's only level 1, so I can't really speak to effectiveness yet. I'm planning on turning him into a Dragon Disciple for the strength bonuses...

    Oddball Rogue Concepts

If you're starting at 6, you can start with Leadership. The best character I've ever played was a high charisma rogue who couldn't fight worth anything (fired 3 arrows during a 6 month campaign - 1 of them missed the monster, the other 2 were CDGs on fellow players while they slept... he wasn't...

    Oddball Rogue Concepts

Apologetic rogue - start in rogue (say, 4 levels) and then go into monk the rest of the way. Requires good int (~14+ and human) to maintain enough skill ranks to keep up your disabling-related rogue skills. *starts picking lock* "Ayup, picked up these skills back in my troubled youth. I don't...

Need some help on a BAB

Wow, so it does. Shows how many epic level campaigns I've played!
  10. The Blow Leprechaun

Need some help on a BAB

Well... without going into Epic Levels.

    Strength based monks?

It's not a strength build, but a small monk could make a pretty phenomenal scout-type. You've got all the stealth skills and the speed to get away from just about anybody. Your complete lack of armor means you never have to worry about armor check penalties to your dexterous skills, so you can...

    Campaign: Wussiest Gods Ever

Well, angels are a race, so I imagine they involve more along the lines of Daddy Angel + Mommy Angel + Jim Beam than Deity + Clay + Life-giving Powers.

    Campaign: Wussiest Gods Ever

Hand of Death should kill just about anything they meet... Gift of Life for one of them should keep them going pretty much forever.

Rules lawyers: text parsing opinions (Hypersmurf?)

While poorly worded, I think those two statements mean the same thing. The latter statement isn't saying you can't make an attack with your non-primary hand, just that it's not considered an off-hand attack (and therefore subject to penalty). Edit: Speaking of poorly worded, I just reread what...

    Odd but legal?

This is a much trickier scenario. The two-weapon fighting rules explicitly mention being able to use it with thrown weapons, and the quick draw feat explicitly mentions being able to use it with thrown weapons, so how do you combine them? The way I see it, there are two reasonable options: A)...

Detect Magic and Invisibility (again old problem)

Listen and Epic uses of Spot (DC 20 to notice them, DC 40 to pinpoint them).

What happen if a fire elemental fails to make the jump over a body of water?

Nice. Little fire elemental children go swimming in the lake to rebel against their parents. I love it.

    bad dice rolls

Where in Virginia? I've got a game today out in Fairfax and we like to do one-day one-shots to break up the campaigns a bit.
  19. The Blow Leprechaun

    Odd but legal?

Ridiculous! That pretty much says it all, doesn't it? You get one extra attack per round with that weapon. If you drop your initial offhand weapon, it's pretty tough to attack someone with it. Maybe if you drop it on their foot and it's big.
  20. The Blow Leprechaun

    Odd but legal?

Fine, you can switch hands on your bow while taking shots. Happy now? This still says nothing about tossing your weapon into another hand to gain an extra attack from TWF, which only explicitly allows a 5' step (which is not equivalent to a free action).
