    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

The burden of proof is on you here. Specific trumps general, remember? The general says that all melee weapons count as melee weapons. The specific rule says that thrown weapons count as ranged weapons for purposes of ranged attacks. There is no specific rule saying that they also retain...

    About them rituals

Yes, but an armor wearing Melee Cleric wouldn't have 70g left over to spend on a ritual book. So you're being a bit unfair to the Cleric here. Plus, you're forgetting the fact that you could just have the Wizard and Cleric each buy a ritual. You could even houserule that they have to in order...

Rangers and 2 diff [w] - martial power confusion

That's true. It doesn't explicitly say it has to be the main hand weapon. Most of the time you would probably want to, but as you pointed out there might be times where it's advantageous to actually use the "weaker" weapon in your off-hand due to a special feature.

Rangers and 2 diff [w] - martial power confusion

Yes and no... If the Ranger was going Beastmaster, wouldn't he be giving up the ability to use Two Weapons of equal size? He would need a one-handed weapon and another one-handed weapon with the off-hand property. Alternatively, I suppose he could use two normal weapons, but he would be...

    Good & Bad : Wizards

Sweeping Blow? Try Cruel Reaper...you get an AoE, get to shift 2 squares, then make another AoE. Let's see the Wizard beat that one!!! :p But yeah, seriously, having a few AoE's does not make you better than the Wizard. Even if the individual AoE's in question are more powerful, it's the...

How to kill a blue dragon?

Yeah, and that sort of an encounter would be fair for PC's of that level. They don't have to be able to fly or attack at 20+ squares to engage the Dragon. They just have to survive the initial harrying, and then wait for the final assault. The whole problem I had with the encounter before was...

Martial Power and Races: Dragonborn and Tieflings

This. I wanted to go Iron Vanguard anyway, since pumping Con works for that PP and it synergizes with the Dragonborn abilities. Now it's even more awesome! I wish you could take two Paragon Paths though, because I really want to unleash my inner dragon as well...:.-(

So I have the Martial Powers book.

Well, thanks for all the info you provided. Hopefully it will encourage others to pick the book up. Now I just have to wait for mine to get here...

How to kill a blue dragon?

I didn't say I don't have a ranged weapon, just that I don't carry a bow. I carry handaxes, because that makes more sense. Even at long range I have a better chance to hit than I do with a bow at short range. Additionally, a Paladin can do a better job with Divine Challenge at range than a...

How to kill a blue dragon?

Or you could take the opposite approach. Deal with the initial attack, then run in apparent fear. The Blue Dragon's ego will be satisfied and he will return perhaps minutes, or hours later. What he wouldn't do is what was described, and that's hover 20 squares up for a significant amount of...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

I'm not understanding what you're getting at here. By "tags", do you mean weapon type? And if so, what does "goes by object, regardless of means of use" mean? Additionally, I showed the rule above that says that a "thrown weapon" counts as a ranged weapon when thrown. So no, there is nothing...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

You can't use a ranged weapon as a melee weapon. Meaning, you can't use your bow as an improvised melee weapon. So no, not all objects between 1 and 5 pounds are 1-handed improvised melee. There are also separate categories for unarmed, improvised melee and improvised ranged. None of these...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

Show me the rule that says this though. I just showed you a specific rule that says that only a Ranged Weapon can be used in a Ranged Basic Attack, and that a Heavy Thrown weapons counts as a Ranged Weapon when making that attack. If you think it somehow still retains it's Melee Weapon...

    Healing Surges

Exactly. Back in the 2e days, for example, you had your supply of hit points and that was it. If you got really low then you could use some healing spells or potions to boost you back up, or you could lay in bed for like a month. Either way, you had essentially one pool. Now, we have a...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

WTF are you talking about? Ranged weapons can't be used as melee weapons...meaning you can't attack someone in melee with a bow. Yet all bows and crossbows are between 2 and 4 lbs (in PHB, I didn't check AV, but it should be similar). So if you're saying that all melee weapons weigh between 1...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

Well, I was originally writing something about some different ways of looking at the issue and needing clarification from CS or the Errata, but I tossed all that out when I saw the below. This clearly states that when using a Heavy Thrown weapon you are making a Ranged Basic Attack, not a Melee...

So I have the Martial Powers book.

Quite true. The power description of the attack stat always trumps anything else. This is why a Rogue can have awesome melee attacks that key off Dex, but can't hit to save his life with an OA because it's a basic melee attack.

    Healing Surges

I guess I just don't see why it has to be "drained to death". If you have 0 surges, any damage larger than your hit points (provided you don't have a Paladin) means you're dead. Or at least down for the time being, and then you could be revived to 1HP with no ability to heal. It's not like...

    Intelligent Blademaster with Javelin?

By normally, I meant in the case of a basic melee or ranged attack. They use Strength for melee, Dexterity for ranged, and then either Str or Dex for thrown depending on it's type. Using powers then modifies this.

    Racial Tiers

Yeah, a couple well placed Tides of Iron can do wonders. Plus, since Dragonbreath is a minor, I can push an enemy into position and then use it on the same turn. Also, if the enemies aren't all bunched together, and are instead very spread out, then they're not flanking me. ;) The utility of...
