    D&D Miniatures Stat Cards?

Hi Everyone, My D&D miniature stat cards were accidentally thrown out during this year's spring cleaning. :( Is there a place that cards can be downloaded so I can perhaps organize them in a binder? Thanks!

    Find your wisdom score.. sorta!

3.6 - I wish it would explain how the results were reached and interpreted, though.

    Anyone ever use a Battlehive?

We bought one of these when they first came out and used it a lot, but after the advent of the plastic minis, we just use it for books and dice.

    Idea Flowcharts for Session Planning

It looks like you can only share with "friends" (aka, other people who have registered on that site), but here is a PDF of what my next session looks like. Keep in mind, it probably won't make sense to you (given that you don';t knwo the backstory). However, if you're a DM, you can place...

    Idea Flowcharts for Session Planning

I'm not sure if this should be in the Computers & Software forum, so feel free to move it over there if need be. I found this neat little online program that you can create and save idea flow charts on. I've been using it to plan for my past few sessions and it works like a charm. I add to...

    Replacement PCs: what level?

The new PC (or the same raised PC) comes back at: (1000 x current PC level) less xp. It's a nice way of losing the equivalent of your character level. That way, Bob, who just turned level 7, will not lose any less than John, who is only 100xp away from level 7.

Is RAISE DEAD (etc.) too readily available in most D&D campaigns?

With the loss of a level (or insert your favorite house rule here), death can still deal a pretty hefty blow without ruining the campiagn. If the story allows for it, I don't have a problem with it. Now, as far as raising NPCs? That I tend to shy away from because it can really throw campaign...

    New and Confused Regarding GenCon

$10 a day isn't bad. I think the smartest thing for us just to plan our itinerary ahead of time, especially since a far-away hotel doesn't allow for seat-of-your-pants plans. We plan on seeing some of the city (and perhaps some nightlife), so as long as the parking is reasonable, we shouldn't...

    New and Confused Regarding GenCon

Dave, thanks for the info....and no, I wasn't aware of the 15% tax on hotels in Indy. I'm going to have to crunch some numbers and see how much per month I will have to put away in a cookie jar. We've found some hotels that are 5-7 miles away from Indy, and while it's nowhere near as...

    New and Confused Regarding GenCon

Hi, Our gaming group will be making the trek to GenCon this year (a first for all five of us), and one question that seems to stand out is: Do you have to register (after you buy your badge) for events such as seminars, shows, etc.? I can understand the logic behind registering for game...

    The GF in the Game

I've only been in one group where a player (and eventually DM) had his significant other in the party. There was some special treatment, but not enough to really cause any friction. That being said, the story did suffer sometimes. In the end, I would always lean towards "no" when asked if it...

If you could be only one level...which would it be?

8th for me. Powerful, but not ridiculous. I found that once a group gets very high-powered, role playing gets sacrificed for "who cares, we can do what we want".

More the merrier? I don't think so.

4 players at the table is definitely the "sweet spot" for me. Our group meets that number and the adventures are always smooth and enjoyable.

Tips and Tricks to speed up gameplay.

This works really well for our group, too. On the topic of rolling damage ahead of time, wouldn't that promote (or at least tempt) the players to metagame a little? For instance, if you know your next damage roll will be low, and the beastie has not been hurt much, you may opt for another...

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy Hannukkah!

Merry Christmas, everyone! :D I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. I know that I personally can't wait to unplug, turn off my cell and relax for 11 whole days! Three cheers for strategic use of floating holidays!
