D&D Still Satanic? "So my mom threw away all my D&D books..."

The only thing that's clear is that she has a tenuous grasp on reality. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt by using the word "tenuous."

    Should this be fixed

"Dwarf, do that again and you can find another party to adventure with. Maybe you like begging for your meals on the temple steps, but some of us want to live by our own means." Then continually shame him in front of other dwarves by calling him a beardless fool, who decided he was too good to...

    Homebrew cities

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I am a big fan of random generators as springboards for ideas or even when I'm just feeling lazy. There's a Medieval city generator there along with just about any other you could think of. Chaotic Shiny - RPG-Related Generators

    Rogue|Warlock

Well, I wasn't literally trying to make a clone of the character; just using him to draw some inspiration from. As I said before, I have not read the books, and the second game is the entirety of my experience with the character. Having taken a gander at the Hexblade, I think it works nicely...

    Rogue|Warlock

Yeah, essentially darkish type guy who can cast and use a blade somewhat effectively. I haven't read any of the books, just played this game, so I'm not familiar with much of the background/history of the character to really pull from. Just had a blast rolling around swinging wildly, throwing a...

    Rogue|Warlock

Having played the ever-loving crap out of Witcher 2, I decided to build one at a low level to (potentially) play with in a 4th game our group has going. I was interested to see what you guys came up with. Rog/Warlock was my first thought, if there's a nicer combination, I'm all ears. We are...

    Tumble problems

YouTube - Balin's Tomb - Music Video - Ensiferum [HD] Here's the clip of Sam v. Cave Troll that was mentioned. He begins his awesomeness at :56. There's music as well (which I happen to like, so I suggest just watching the whole thing), so you've been warned.

Using some or all of a power.

Thank you both, that clears it up considerably. I found the section under Forced Movement and a reread reinforced what you were both saying. Here's another related question, which I believe I already know the answer to, but just to be sure: I "may" push a target up to X squares. Can I push...

Using some or all of a power.

I'm playing a wizard in an upcoming 4th campaign. I understand that you can choose not to use certain effects from a power (Example: Thunderwave; I could do the damage but not use the push effect.) Two questions: 1) Is the reverse true? Can I use the push effect without applying damage? 2)...

    Tumble problems

I didn't mean it illustrates what it means to tumble. I meant it illustrates that what people consider to make sense is very subjective. In other words, we all have opinions and they differ. Yes but this was something that came up right then and there, not a houserule we had discussed before...

    Tumble problems

Steady, Gentlemen... WB, I noticed you used the Hide skill a couple of times as an example of making sure the setting is more important than rolling high, and being an avid rogue-type player, I feel the need to back up what Dandu said about the rules supporting and governing hiding behind...

What questions to ask your players as a DM during character creation

Some of you guys make me jealous! In our group, I'm usually the only one who writes a short story background. The most creative (background-wise) the entire group ever got was when we played M&M (2e), because everyone was really into Origin stories. I was still the only one who had more than one...

    Finding your roleplaying style

Well at least they took care of it. Good on the rest of the party. As to the alignment issue, I think some things are implied when playing a Paladin (such as not being a murderous turd) that any regular reader would get from even a cursory scan of the class entry. This has really gotten me...

What questions to ask your players as a DM during character creation

All the time actually; I will be a player in a 4th edition game this weekend, and we have vampire and a cleric (boy was that thread over on the 4e boards fun to read) that will be adventuring together. We always find a way, no matter if it may be implausible on the surface, to "work things out"...

    Finding your roleplaying style

I saw that too, and I just figured it was a corner case (Pelor knows I've seen stranger). What I am completely unable to wrap my head around is how that paladin stayed alive after the encounter.

D&D Still Satanic? "So my mom threw away all my D&D books..."

RE: the OP. You can't reason with madness. Hopefully she will accept his hobbies one day, if not then she can continue to be ignorant. One more in the world won't make that big of a difference.

What questions to ask your players as a DM during character creation

I just ask them what they WANT to play. I don't really like to shoot down whatever they're into that week. One stipulation: If I'm running a campaign and you know it features a large number dragons, please don't bring the Ultimate Dragonhunter. I don't mind a couple dragon-type feats/abilities...

    Big and Strong race help.

I also feel, personally, that the Feral template should be a +2 LA. Our DM agreed. Of course this was a higher level game, so more of the abilities were present, but still. It IS powerful for a +1. YMMV.

    Finding your roleplaying style

Wow. Just wow, man. That paladin wouldn't have lived through the night. If I was the ranger he would have died alone and naked in the wilderness. How did the other party members react?
