    Hotmail issues

I'm not having any trouble with my hotmail account. Are you accessing it from another application such as Outlook Express or Outlook? If you are using another application, it may require you to manually sign periodically in to the hotmail web page in order to confirm that you are real and not a...

Do you Run Published Adventures As Is?

Definately. I find many adventures are designed to be more quality than quantity. The idea of a group of players spending a year playing through an adventure seems too long. In these cases the adventure (to use a dungeon crawl example) is made up of 5 rooms that advance the plot...

Serenity Collector's Edition - worth it?

Thats what I'm wondering. The marketing description says only new special features and new extended scenes. I'm wondering if they are worth owning the same movie twice.

Serenity Collector's Edition - worth it?

Hi there, Have any Serenity fans out there picked up the Collector's Edition? I am a fan but I also don't want to throw away $20 on an extra special feature and "all new packaging." Anyone know if this is worth it? Do the extra scenes actually add something that was missed in the earlier DVD...

Something funny happened in church yesterday . . .

Interesting discussion. "Balance in all things" as they say. I don't mind my child playing video games (and becoming familiar with that medium) but I would hate it if that were all my child was doing for entertainment. The special challenge that video games represent is that it is a very fast...

    I'm (finally) a Dad!

Congrats Olaf, Your daughter looks very beautiful and healthy. Your wife's labour went very similar to my wife's. She had the same problem with crowning. Sophie looks very alert. Did your wife use pain meds? (sorry if thats too personal). Anyway, enjoy your fatherhood! Oh, and by the way...

    So my computer caught fire.....

Wow, I've had a powerbox blow on me but not a circuit board. What type of video card was it? It sounds like you had only just turned it on. I might expect this if you were playing a game for several hours in a badly ventilated room.

    Baby - T-0 and Counting!

Good luck Olaf! My wife had her labour induced as well. In her case there was a small fluid leakage so they couldn't leave it. I wouldn't worry too much if it is induced. Also, I'm not sure but I think there is a medical reason to not let it go on too long- not sure I remember what it is...

    Bioshock

So maybe we're worried about nothing? That would be nice. I'm not technical enough to know if there is or not though. Does it install anything that could be considered "underhanded"? The full game does install SecureRom permanently though right? I'd love to get the game but I want to be...

    Bioshock

This is what really bothers me... Worse is that we are moving to accepting it. You are absolutely right. But thats not really the point is it. As I said before, our culture is "just take it".

[Dread] Jenga beat up my dice! My results from the indie horror RPG.

I can see your point but at the same time I think that for me, Dread really isn't meant to be a combat game at all. I'm sure you're not looking for some sort of dice system or something because that would kind of spoil the point. I'm comfortable with the combat system resolved by pulls. For...

Just got my copy of Dread

The book details some other types of isolation. Physical is only one. In the Ring, you could be in a city full of people but who is going to believe the character's story about a haunted video tape? That type of story is more of an emotional isolation. I think the Ring would work very well...

Post your questionnaires from PC's Dread game!

Thanks for all of this everyone, especially Piratecat for sharing! I'll try to run this if my first game sparks interest. This sounds like it was a lot of fun!

    Bioshock

My problem is that I do re-install my operating system at least once a year (its a good cleaning after all) and I like to install games on my laptop for those weekends at the in-laws. To add to this I also keep all of my games and re-visit them after a few years. So two problems: 1. We have to...

    D&D 4E 4e...take a note from Monte Cook's WoD

I haven't read WOD but Monte's system in Arcana Evolved was heads and shoulders above the current system.

Let's talk about boardgames, especially RUNEBOUND and DESCENT

Arkham Horror is by the same company, Fantasy Flight Games. You should check out their website and take a look at their games. They would appeal to a lot of RPGers. I second the Arkham recommendation but caution that the rules are heavy and take some learning. I played my first two games...

    Bioshock

Sad really. I was planning on getting this game but I don't approve of deceptive DRM tactics like installing SecurROM without my consent. They could increase the install limit to 20 and I would still have a problem. On a lark I recently started replaying some old games from the 80s and early...

The Day the Earth Stood Still remake

Your point makes sense but of course its still kinda sad. This is a timeless movie that is watchable today. It really doesn't need a remake but most people won't get past the fact that its black and white. Lets hope they stay true.
