Another Look at the D&D Essentials Kit

That's an unexpected bonus. Whether the purchase of the physical products should come with a code to redeem the content on D&D Beyond has been a topic of conversation for a long while. I wonder whether this is a one-off marketing ploy help introduce new players to D&D Beyond, or whether it...

Meet Us At UK Games Expo!

Excellent news - I'll be sure to drop by. I may even have a mini Judge in tow if he decides he wants to wear his uniform... :D

Another Look at the D&D Essentials Kit

I'm going to reserve full judgement until I've read the included adventure, but this looks absolutely fantastic at first glance. A few sheets of cardboard pawns as per the Pathfinder box would have been a nice inclusion, but keeping the end product "pocket money" priced is key. It's certainly...

See Live Action D&D Cartoon Characters In This Car Commercial

The casting is absolutely spot-on. Now where is Venger?!?

You Can Now Preorder The Acquisitions Inc Book On Amazon

I'll probably skip this one - it's far too gonzo for my own tastes to use at the table. Then again, I do quite like PA and AI, so could eventually pick it up at some point just to read rather than use.

Last Minute Gifts: A Miniature Guide

Reaper Bones and WizKids Nolzurs and Deep Cuts lines are a fairly inexpensive way to pad out your collection of minis. Bones minis don't need to be primed, so all of these are great for beginners to get stuck straight into painting. You can get a lot of mileage out of some of the Kings of War...

News Digest: More Big Changes for World of Darkness, John Carter of Mars Lands, Starfinder Beginner

Thanks for putting this together - a good read as always. The news on Modiphius taking over management of Vampire should be good news, but I suspect the V5 brand is too damaged at this point to have a real resurgence. Best of luck to them anyway. At least Paradox and Modiphius exercising...

Grab The WFRP4 Starter Set PDF Now!

Glad to see it released. Looking forward to the first reviews as I'm a sucker for a good starter set.

    WorldOfDarkness.com Closing Down?

WoTC handled this in the best way possible IMO - presenting the fact that a given NPC is / was in a same-sex relationship as just another part of their background. No real fanfare: "This is just another fact about this particular guy, and not even the most notable fact". I like that. Usually...

King Arthur Pendragon Returns To Chaosium

Ah - thanks for that. All new info for me, but I'm happy to see that the plans are to treat Pendragon as a developing game line. Generational adventures in ancient Greece or feudal Japan? Yep - great directions to expand the game.

Celebrate the Holidays with D&D in Winter's Splendor

Thanks for the heads-up. I was looking for a one-shot to run over the Christmas holidays and this may well be ideal.

King Arthur Pendragon Returns To Chaosium

Fantastic news. Pendragon is such a unique game and I can't think of a better new home for it than Chaosium. I wonder if this changes the plans for a print release of 5.2 (beyond the Kickstarter backers who got it as an add-on for the Paladin campaign)? Either way, I'm excited to see what...

News Digest: More D&D Releases for 2019, Basic D&D Updated, Steve Jackson Games Reviving Classic Gam

Nice! The lure of some updated SJG boxed games might be too hard to resist. 'Car Wars' and 'Awful Green Things From Outer Space' were two favourites back in the day.

Today's The Last Day Of Voting For The Most Anticipated Tabletop RPGs Of 2019!

I voted for the two things that I'll probably end up grabbing: Forbidden Lands and Dredd. Great list though - quite a few games I wasn't previously aware of that I'll be sure to check out.

Monster & Magic Item Cards Coming In February

Yep. I got this a little while back and, although I haven't looked through them in too much detail yet, I noticed a few glaring omissions when I shuffled though the monster decks. I can't believe they missed out rats! :erm: They are nicely done, and I'm generally happy I have them.

Poll of the Week: What's the best gift for your GM?

Minis. You can never have too many minis (although my wife would disagree... :erm:) Closely followed by a rulebook. I would have said dice, but I think a lot of people tend to be weirdly specific about the dice they like to use.

Big Changes At White Wolf Following Controversy

This makes me sad. Although I've not played any WoD since its 90's heyday, it's tough to see how far White Wolf have fallen in the years since. Games and Politics - rarely, if ever, a happy combination. Whether it's instances of games trying to tackle thorny real world problems, or people...

WotC President Chris Cocks Talks Magic and D&D

This would truly be the best of both worlds (pun unashamedly intended). Ah - thanks for that. I thought it was going to be PDF only for some reason. That's an insta-buy then.

WotC President Chris Cocks Talks Magic and D&D

I'm not sure how to read that. In context, it seems he's talking about releasing sourcebooks for classic and new MTG worlds, rather than say Greyhawk or Dark Sun. Personally, I'm not particularly interested in any MTG sourcebooks as the lore doesn't appeal (and I say that as a long time on-off...
