    D&D 5E Paladin Oathbound/Oathbreaker

The oaths are not related to the god. Changing god would not help. However, changing the Oath from Devotion or Crown to Vengeance could work in some cases I guess. But check the tenets of the oaths. Those are the rules that are supposed to be followed. If they are not, then there is no easy way...

    DM Advice

I would consider not using the pregen rogue backstory. I'm currently running the adventure (with reasonably experienced players) and that story has so far proven to be the thing that had forced me to wing the most things.

D&D 5E Teleportation circles costs *how* much?!

I guess the Elven Wizard who did a lot of adventuring in its youth also considers going for the Circle. Lots of years to get write it off during an elven lifetime.

    D&D 5E Bladesinger Concept Optimization

Haven't played any of the component classes enough to know if it is optimised, but it sounds like 10BS/10EK becomes a half-caster similar to Paladin and Ranger in spells and a rogue in HP. Personally I would have considered starting fighter if I was going do a fighter/wizard multiclass. But...

    D&D 5E Shapeshifting dragons - only metallic?

I think I mentioned it before in this thread (or someone else did before I could). Page 180 I think.

    D&D 5E Noob Skills Questions

Read it again. Tools and languages are included, not skills. I consider "the DM might allow other options" to be equivalent to "the DM might house rule".

D&D 5E is it a big deal? Battle master fighter and Human variant...

At my table the Variant Human is the only human even considered. When we for once started a campaign with no extra way of gaining extra feats we had a all-human party (with no new human PCs replacing any casualties). To me, the bigger issues are magic and darkvision. Even the players who dislike...

    Con Artists?

The Mastermind from SCAG could hold part of the answer (avoid getting caught) and the Swashbuckler's Panache could be relevant. The story space next to the Mastermind would probably be rather slim. How do you really see the difference between a schemer in court and someone doing a lot of...

    D&D 5E Noob Skills Questions

In the book "Sword Coast Adventuer's Guide" there is at least a fighter subclass that gains proficiency in a skill at 7th level as well as double proficiency in Persuation. As said before, the DM can allow you to use the training rules for languages and tool proficiencies in the PHB to also...

D&D 5E New Players same level as Current Players?

To me that would be very dependent on group and campaign. In the case described (new players with new characters) I would check with the new players (if they are new to D&D 5e) if they would prefer to learn the mechanics in the apprentice levels first and with the old players if they would...

Do You Know Your Glaive-Guisarme From Your Bohemian Earspoon?

I guess it is a result of Swedish being my native tongue, so it is less flavour to me than a lack of easy translation. I do admit that reading or hearing "ombudsman" or "smorgosbord" in English is about as weird to me. However, the latter two do not have as obvious other direct translations into...

Do You Know Your Glaive-Guisarme From Your Bohemian Earspoon?

It looks weird to me to call the swordstaff a svärdstav in English. Either use a fully scandinavian spelling or do the translation into English. Probably do the translation.

D&D 5E The "more complex" fighter: What are you looking for?

Thanks to Njall I don't think there is anything left for me to add to this discussion at the moment. Maybe I'll try to come up with something story related for options similar to the 4e Essentials fighters.

D&D 5E The "more complex" fighter: What are you looking for?

No, action surge is not an option for each turn. It is even further from what I am looking for than the BM features. Rather, I want something that also affects the attacks etc made with action surge.

D&D 5E The "more complex" fighter: What are you looking for?

When I want a different fighter I'm looking for: 1. More out of combat options, things that can easily and consistently be used in social situations and exploration that are not just regular skill checks. 2. Things that modify the standard attack (or possibly just opportunity attacks) each...

D&D 5E The "more complex" fighter: What are you looking for?

What I would like in fighter is a subclass that gave something like stances where you could maybe choose between bonuses to damage, AC or to hit (maybe increasing in values at level 11) to leverage the number of attacks. Then the rest of the features giving bonuses to skills or non-skill options...

    D&D 5E Shapeshifting dragons - only metallic?

If I recall correctly there is a half-dragon template in the MM to use for when a shapeshifted dragon mates with a non-dragon. I think it includes chromatic dragons. Also, the green dragon entry (or something on those pages) implies at least one of them having such an ability. Probably the one...

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

Thanks! The secondary point seems quite clear to me as well, and if the errata came after the cantrip I would expect the cantrip to work in the same way as pre-errata.

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

I should be sleeping and not reading here, but would like to have something clarified: is there disagreement over things like if smite, Hunter's mark etc work with GFB or not? Because the only issue I can see is if the damage from a nonmagical weapon overcomes resistance to such when using GFB...
