    D&D (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

It appears DnDshorts's video has been taken down. Based on the conditions on the embargo outlined in Treantmonk's video, my guess is that he showed more than he was supposed to (i.e. by posting every page, which probably violates any copyright in any case). I would be happy to be wrong about this.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

REINCARNATE: the table now just rolls 1d10 for the ten species in the PHB (or DM choice) -- all species have equal probability now.

...and yet they have chosen not to over-write it, and the PHB includes guidelines for using species from pere-2024 books. The Half-elf and Half-orc have the same utility as the species in MotM (goblin, kobold, harengon, etc.) and remain completely playable. HALF-ELF 30' move, 60' darkvision...

D&D (2024) D&D Background and Origin Feat Article

a Human Rogue that can cast Find Familiar, Bless, Light, Guidance, Mending and True Strike* would be a blast to play. *I'm thinking of the playtest version, so he can strike with a casting stat and not need a high-DEX.

Speculation on the associated feats (the answers might be out there already -- some certainly are. Acolyte - Healer Charlatan - Skilled? Alert? Artisan - Crafter Criminal - Tough? Skilled? Tavern Brawler? Entertainer - Musician Guard - Alert Farmer - Tough Guide - Healer? Hermit - Healer Noble...

in one of the Crawford interviews in the past two weeks, they were even joking about people selling diamonds outside of temples. It's such an endemic problem, and I don't think it occurred to them to fix it...

D&D (2024) D&D Background and Origin Feat Article

The list of origin feats is exactly what was in the first playtest packet; Lightliy Armored was added later; it is just possible that the author of this article is using old data. However, reference to the Fast Crafting table was not in the playtest description of the Crafter feat, and so there...

What I want to know (and what I asked in the Playtest feedback) is how this interacts with buying diamonds for spell components. 20% off 500gp diamond would be very significant in some campaigns.

D&D (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

Also, Crawford talks about "the PH" not the "PHB". I know that's more correct, but it seems wrong.

D&D (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

The Pack Tactics video has a lot that's useful. Awkward conversation, but the guy is having fun, and got JC to intro his channel, so that's pretty cool. Questions were really focused on Backwards Compatibility, and the answers Crawford gave are all sensible and what I think we want to see...

D&D (2024) The 10 Species in "Your Ideal 2024 PHB"

Halfling Gnome Goblin (or Kobold) Harengon (or a new Animalfolk, with subspecies -- a wizard did it) Human Dwarf Elf Orc Lizardfolk Planetouched (mix-and-match magicals) --> no Shifter, but "Shifting" ability available as a starting feat.

    D&D 5E (IC) Fitz's Folly

"Oh my Dear Sweet Weed," Miss Imogen shouts above the throng of the melee, her ribcage feeling like it would burst at what she has done. She looks down, as blood pours from the giant dinosaur and the consequences of her arrows and the fireball are still being felt. The fireball came from...

    D&D (2024) D&D species article

Ah. Before you said it was a trap for anyone who doesn't have access to those books. That was the confusion. I think we agree that Elves, already the most powerful species in PHB 2014, was made stronger by later books. We disagree as to whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm pleased...

    D&D (2024) D&D species article

For ten years, this design team has not really been interested in races/species -- it has always felt like an afterthought, and it has never been well implemented. At the same time, they tried to do something new and cool in the playtest (Aardlings) and the fanbase rejected it. So they have...

    D&D (2024) D&D species article

Can you explain what you mean by this? How is it a trap? It appears to be the most flexible of the three elf subspecies. Obviously, no one will have the evidence you want. But why would you expect them to build off a setting-specific book rather than the more substantial (and thoughtful) MotM?

Fair. As I say, for me that's a win. Yes. This was not part of the UA playtest either; I suspect you are right.
