    Dragonlance Dragonlance: Best Sources?

Coming back to D&D after many editions away, but was a big DL fan back in the day. So, Besides the 2e stuff, where there ever quality materials produced for the setting? Taking publishing materials from all the editions into account, which stands as the best source for the setting? also, what's...

D&D General Art that defined D&D for you

I'm double dipping into this thread, but I wanna share one more piece that influenced me a lot in the early years. As a fan of the Rankin-Bass LotR/Hobbit cartoons, haflings were something I wanted to adventure as. The following Jeff Dee image set up the idea that they could be athletic/heroic...

D&D General Art that defined D&D for you

I love art threads! I too started in the early 80s, so Erol Otus and Jeff Dee images have places in my heart. When Larry Elmore's DragonLance images came out I was blown away. Between the Chronicles and his art it is easily my favorite D&D setting. I recently ordered a copy of the Chronicles...

    D&D 5E Sword Coast Adventures v Xanathar's Guide

i guess if I buy these two, I'm more likely to keep committing future games to the Forgotten Realms. If a DragonLance (my first love) 5e setting book comes out...I'm already neck deep in FR stuff. same with Dark Sun, Eberron, etc. I guess it's more a personal question...go all in with FR now and...

    D&D 5E Boxed texts

i love boxed texts. Unfortunately, I don't feel like they're used correctly in the modern adventures. Thinking about SKT...there are very few boxed texts to read to the players, but tons of details that should be boxed texts. I mean, pretty much each entry has enough details they should have...

    D&D 5E Sword Coast Adventures v Xanathar's Guide

So, I'm currently running LMoP/SKT and plan to go ToA afterward. Beyond that maybe OotA or CoS. I don't know anything about the Forgotten Realms beyond what's in the D&D starter, PHB, and in the campaign books. Do I need either of these FR supplement books or are they more for DM's who are...

D&D 5E Streams or podcasts where the groups complete a "standard adventuring day" in a 4 hour session?

I run two hour sessions and we got through 4 encounters in the last one. That’s about average for me. I run Theater of the Mind games so that saves a lot of time.

D&D General An Appreciation of David "Zeb" Cook

Last Eberron question, as not to derail this too much, what’s the adventure support look like? I have no time to write my own, so just run tweaked published adventures.

There’s another 5e book for Eberron coming out? I want around the game for 3e and 4e, so missed Eberron. I’m not a big fan of steampunk stuff, but is the setting worth a look?

All of this talk of Taladas....and I'm having more fun than ever with 5e...so what would it take to spin Taladas up for a 5e game? Any ideas? Maybe that should be a new thread...

D&D General An Appreciation of David "Zeb" Cook

Wasn't Dark Sun written as Brom's work arrived across the TSR desks? I feel like I read that they built a setting around his art. 4e probably had the benefit of being developed with plenty of lead time and around solid rules.

2nd edition is where the bulk of all the cool, unique settings were born. I think there's only been one since then...Eberrron?

D&D General An Appreciation of David "Zeb" Cook

Yeah, I the cover for Time of the Dragon is a reused piece that was the cover to a 1985 issue of Dragon Magazine. Reused artwork doesn't exactly scream 'major new setting launch'. I remember also being confused on the description of that^ being a Silver Dragon...

Top Secret, now that I did play! It was as close to a GI Joe RPG as we had at the time...that I was aware of. I'll have to look at this Commando supplement.
