    D&D 5E Weighing in on 5e

You've hi on my own thoughts exactly. Sure, some skills get a lot more table time as they're used in combat or in social interactions a lot more often, but I've always encouraged players to feel free to keep Craft and Profession type skills at high ranks as it creates great flavor for the...

    Catching a Javelin

I'm not sure if you missed the part where I suggested he only even get to make the attempt if he has remaining AoOs still as well. Alternatively, maybe have it cost an Action Point or something similar, that way it's limited use. Really though, I was just suggesting an alternate idea to...

    Catching a Javelin

Or maybe make it so it costs an Action Point to attempt, if you're using the system. It lets him try it a few times a level but that's it.

D&D 3E/3.5 Level Adjustments and Balance in a Solo 3.5 Game

I'll second Greylord's sentiments. If Draknar is indeed the only character, just have him count as whatever his class levels are instead of his LA. While Draknar does have some power as a half-dragon, he is exceedingly squishy, so kobolds, orcs, etc. are a good way to go.

    Catching a Javelin

Well, that was resolved quickly. Alternatively, you could have the player make a really high DC Reflex save to see if he even reacts in time, then, assuming he still has an AoO left for the round, make him roll an attack against an insanely high AC. If all that works, then sure, let him Snatch...

Tier list for PF classes, or summary of each?

Frankly, I think pretty much every PF class is interesting for the full 20 levels now. Classes like Fighter, Bard, etc. got some nice upgrades and just about every class gets something neat every single level up. I like the way Fighters have changed, personally. They get weapon training every...

    Issues with the Monk class

I've always allowed monk characters to buy and enchant hand-wraps/gloves/bracers with magic weapon enhancements that could apply to their unarmed strikes. Additionally, I think people complaining about the monk being "weak" aren't using the class abilities to their fullest. A monk can fall from...

My Humble attempt at fixing Casters vs. Non-Casters

Agreed. I've DMed for nearly two decades and never have had the spellcasters outshine the melee or skill monkey classes because I know how to use varied situations for the party. Sure, Mr. Wizard or Cleric can potentially do anything one of the other classes does, only better, but if he hasn't...

Old Black Dragon - how best to defeat?

Yeah....your party's average level is like 19 and you don't know how to kill a CR 16 monster? Buwahahahahahaha!!! Seriously though, just open the sphere and murder it in open combat.

    Brainless fun

I like the whole obfuscating stupidity schtick, though it can be difficult to carry out effectively in game. Playing a dumb character is sometimes a load of fun though. HULK SMASH!! is pretty satisfying.

D&D 3E/3.5 (3.5e) Stacking Special Abilities on Weapons

Yeah....I'd recommend just doing different energy types instead of stacking three Flamings on there, that way some beastie with immunity or high resistance can't just ignore it.

    Powergamer Issues

I'm pretty much in agreement with you on this. I too find a lot of people on the forum to be rather harsh on players who want powerful builds in campaigns more oriented towards role-playing or whatnot, but this guy sounds like he's not just going for the best possible within the rules type...

Casters vs. non-casters in your game.

Sounds like it's time to start some inter-party conflict (STABBITY STAB!) :P On subject, as the DM for 18 years now, I can safely say that the pure spellcasters frequently do become quite powerful, but usually end up as glass cannons. Even the clerics burn through their spells and then become...

    Panicing D&D 3.5 DM!

PC's building a zombie horde? Flying enemies with breath weapons or other area attacks are hard for slow moving grounded zombies to handle. Baddies with ranged attacks are also effective.

looking for a weapon for my melee-focused hexblade.

YES! Bane against Abberations would go a long way, similarly Magical Beasts. Those two broad categories cover tons of monsters, so they're worth it, I'd say.

    Unusual Magic Weapons

Is this supposed to be directed at my Block of Eternal Cheese? I realize that mice/rats prefer peanut butter, chocolate, etc. over cheese, but it's a joke. You know, humor?

    Unusual Magic Weapons

Block of Eternal Cheese: Just a wheel of cheddar that never runs out and never molds/spoils. Allows for many a fart joke. This was given to a nezumi PC in a campaign of mine, mostly because it was funny. Similarly, we had an Infinite Stein of Beer once. Really, it generates 6 drinks of beer per...

Making campaign settings promote better roleplaying/character interaction

These are the best kinds of puns, the ones that cross the line twice and go from groan inducing to chuckle worthy. I introduced a werebear NPC to a campaign somewhat recently and the bear-related puns flew like a hurricane.

Picture of the Week: The original hot elf chick (?) and freinds

I'd have never thought to analyze that in depth like you did, but it is a very interesting point. Our ideals of beauty have changed over the years, quite drastically depending on the culture.

    Altered Warforged

Please note that the Warforged written here is Fallenibillis' modified version. RAW warforged don't get Powerful Build and have a -2 Wis, among other differences.
