    Most Ignoble PC Death

I recall my friend Brian was playing a half-orc barbarian, a rather reckless one at that, and he managed to get himself killed rather quickly by a spear trap in a hallway. Instead of pulling his body to safety for potential recovery, one of the other players immediately said, "Dibs on his axe!"...

    Creating a "Bender" class

Arkhandus, I do really like your idea of making a Sound/sonic bending prestige class for Airbenders. It'd probably be a 3 or 5 level class, but then most of the specialty PrC benders would be one of those smaller progressions. Bloodbending is the only one I can conceivably justify stretching...

    Creating a "Bender" class

Yeah, we're not strictly focusing on the Warlock invocations and such, but we're basing the effects a bender can create and the number they can learn on that system. I was also thinking it might be appropriate to give benders an ability similar to Jedi in the SW d20 system. They can, once they...

    Creating a "Bender" class

As cool as Bender is, why would I want a class for D&D based on him? Seriously though, go watch some Avatar and if you're partial to kung fu movies you'll love it.

    Creating a "Bender" class

I appreciate the references, but we're not really interested in learning a new system unless it dovetails nicely with 3.5E. I'll take a look at Gneech's stuff though. :)

    Creating a "Bender" class

Sokka's case works for dramatic tension (and humor) in a TV show, but for a D&D party leveling up at a relatively equal rate, he'd be a high level fighter by the end of things. We're trying to make the Bender classes similar to the Warlock, which is fairly well balanced compared to other base...

    Creating a "Bender" class

Thanks, I got a few ideas out of those threads. I'm still working out whether we want Benders to be an actual class or if it will be feats and skills. Personally, I prefer the idea of Benders being full on base classes because it allows us to keep it more balanced. Taking a few Bending feats...

    Creating a "Bender" class

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the Nickelodeon show Avatar: the Last Airbender, but it's a show my wife and I are big fans of and we're trying to convert the elemental bending styles into classes for 3.5 D&D. We're basing the elemental attacks, HD, BA progression, and skill...

Best TV Theme Songs - Top 40

How can they leave The Office theme off of the "Current favorites" list? Blasphemy!

    Casting the OoTS movie

I've actually kind of heard Warburton's voice in my head for that guy the whole time. Weird.

100 ways to know that you're a roleplayer!

    2. When you see a six sided die in any other game (such as Monopoly or Risk) and you think, "Hey, I'm rolling 2d6!".

    Simple question about 1 spell

Indeed. I was simply clarifying for the OP and anyone else who didn't know exactly what you were referring to. I know some people tend to forget that bonuses or penalties of the same type don't stack (my players).

    Simple question about 1 spell

However, if the first shot of the spell did only 1 point of ability damage and the caster gives another shot that does 5 points, I'd probably allow the second penalty to take effect in place of the first (not stacking).

    Full Attacks and AoO Poll

Maybe I'm thinking of the "movement" restriction. That'd explain it. My games usually don't involve that many AoOs in the first place cause the players tend to get into a formation or one area and then camp. Maybe I'll force them around the field a little more next time...

    Full Attacks and AoO Poll

Except I'm pretty sure one character with Combat Reflexes can't make multiple attacks against the same target, so the archer taking 4 shots at the CR fighter next to him with a 16+ Dex only gets hit once (potentially).

    Mirror of Opposition

Personally, I think the PCs are likely to be a little busy dealing with a sudden evil twin, so even if they decide to try and break the mirror they're likely to get whacked. I discovered that this item is extremely broken when I rolled one randomly in a powerful dragon's hoard. The party kept...

    Evolution of the Fighter

How is having a billion feats to pick from "lack of options"? I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but I think the people who complain about this just don't use the feats they have very well. I know that there are plenty of feats that suck or are too powerful, yet I still think there are plenty...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Where'd you get that map, again?

As a DM I'd rule that a "known" or obvious place cannot be someplace you've only seen/gained access to via the power you're using. Thus you'd only be able to scout one room ahead as you troop through the dungeon (still a ridiculously useful ability).

    POLL: DM or Player?

I've been playing D&D in some form since I was 10 (16 years now) and I'd say that 90% of that has been as DM. Initially I was a player and my babysitter was the DM, but once we moved I started being the Storyteller/DM for an entirely imagined game for my younger brother. No dice, no books, no...

    Evolution of the Fighter

I still have yet to see a compelling argument as to why fighters are so bad, especially in 3.x D&D. Having not played much 4e, I can't really comment yet, but in all my experience with permutations of 3rd ed. the fighters are always fun to play and get plenty of time to shine. The fact that 4e...
