I decided to re-tread some oldies this month. Something about spring makes me nostalgic. I fired up Coming of Conan the Cimmerian this weekend. Then I'm moving on to the Mathias Thulman omnibus, and if there is time I'll dig up The Lies of Locke Lamora.
Nothing really triumphant from a...
Maester Aemon, Syrio Forel, Varys and Petyr Baelish were so spot on with how I imagined them when I read the books. Thumbs up, three for three.
I did have a bit of an "ah man, here it comes" moment while watching this episode. I have come to enjoy the various actors' portrayal of the...
To be fair the "out there" characters have been around for most of modern sit-com history:
Fonzie, Nick Moore, Screech, Carlton, Mr. Furley, Barney Fife, Mike Seaver (or Boner...I mean come on), Joey, Jeannie, Endora, etc.
In college I could only play during breaks from school. Having to go from playing at least once a week from age 9 - 17 and then switching to playing twice a year was brutal. I suppose that doesn't really count as a true "dry" spell though. More of a moist spell...
I only get face-to-face...
I play games to have fun.
If the GM or player is set on the contrary, either because I'm the "new guy" or someone has a personal drive towards being a jerk, or any other petty bit of nonesense...I'm out.
I've simply gamed with too many fantastic humans to suffer arse-faces gladly...
I gotta give my props to John Whiteleather, my first GM, and his grandfather George who bought him the red box so that we'd have something to do besides cause trouble with the other kids in our park.
I would recommend adding another PC that the two players can build together and then they can take turns running the "third wheel." If they are both invested in the well-being of the character right from char-gen it will bring out more than just another pile of stats. It helps if the third PC...
That is a great point. It is hard for me to step outside and try to watch the show as if I didn't already know everything. Anywhoodle...top shelf stuff so far.
I am enjoying the show just as much as I hoped I would. A rare thing to have expectations come so close to reality.
I can't help but fast forward in my head to future events and imagine how they will be with the cast we have. After last night's episode I have confidence in Maisie Williams...
Herbo; "HER-bow" (adj; sometimes a noun; even a verb once or twice?)
*A term we use to describe a cheesy flogging of loopholes in a game system's rules (ie "Jake is the most herbo power gamer I have ever seen")
*A semi-derogatory term applied to a player who always seems to have the necessary...
Yup, that's where I'd go if I suddenly had a hankerin' for Drow. Even though it has Drizzt and Forgotten Realms attached to it you can pretty easily strip it out and land it in almost any fantasy setting you choose. It is also one of the easier TSR boxes to find.
Gosh the OP sure stirred up a hornets' nest over at RPG.net, and he did it all for blog pimping to "test traffic?" Not sure I understand that thought process but I am jaded and clunky upstairs.
But back off topic, I am not going to watch A Game of Thrones because I am at work right now and...
Worldwide internet issues from Amazon today eh?...the 21st...
Just sayin'
*Adjusts tin foil hat and rubs some 2-million SPF sunblock on lilly white skin*
Edit:
Per msn.com: "Amazon said the trouble started early in the morning at a data center in Northern Virginia, but provide no...
A: Immersion (linked to F below...hang on it will make less sense after unsplain it)
I dive in headfirst into the background and fluff of whatever setting I am running a game in. I do it so that I can have an easier time coming up with NPC's and plots that satisfy my versimilitude for the...
89. A single tarot card that is badly wrinkled and yellow with age
90. A deed to a property in an adjacent nation
91. A crude peice of vellum with 9 names on it, and 5 are scratched out
92. A really really long scarf...like really stupid clown at a circus long...(pick pocket victim gets a second...
If anyone wants to make the trip to Portland Oregon I will personally host a viewing complete with all the tap water you can drink and a folding chair. This isn't something a fan should have to wait a year for.
*Disclaimer*
I reserve the right to make anyone who shows up at my door watch me...
I am a fan of Pathfinder and 4E (omg I'm an abomination game skank!) but I think both are going to provide some challenge to writing up a faerie based adventure with the RAW for each system. You'll essentially be forced into coming up with houserules, new creatures, adjustments, etc in order to...
In calculating the value of the Shire you'd want to back out any modern concept of the value of land itself. In more ancient times land was pretty unimportant next to what it actually produced (food, rare metals, precious gems, etc) as well as the number of able bodied people around to shake...
