[UPDATED] Here's Mike Mearls' New D&D 5E Initiative System

I like the idea of the weapon damage die contributing to initiative and i don't see how it would be too inflexible. It is almost like having weapon attack speed, where small weapons like daggers are faster than bulky two-handers. This could be extended to spells, making low level (simpler...

D&D 5E Mike Mearls' AMA Summary

Some of the things he said he would like changed/doesn't like, are stuff i like having in the game. Druid as half caster, focused on shapeshifting is a bad idea. This leaves primal magic without a full spellcaster. Maybe that twitter poll had something to do with this statement. Also the fact...

Mike Mearls' D&D AMA Summary: Rangers, Initiative, WotC Staff Levels, Fave Pizza

Some of the things he said he would like changed/doesn't like, are stuff i like having in the game. Druid as half caster, focused on shapeshifting is a bad idea. This leaves primal magic without a full spellcaster. Maybe that twitter poll had something to do with this statement. Also the fact...

D&D 5E The Revised Ranger, Revised...

It looks great! Camouflage still feels like something everyone should be able to do, maybe the ranger can do it better, but it does not feel worth sacrificing a class lvl feature. Also what could be an alternative to Natural Physician? Edit: Forgot to say that I also like the fey spirit theme...

D&D 5E Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

All pacts would have been better off if they scaled across several levels.

D&D 5E This is a directory of posters who think the sorcerer needs fixing

More than four metamagic options known and bonus spells tied to the subclass, would be a good start. Additionally, a greater variety of metamagic options, more sorcerer specific spells and an adjustment to the cost of creating spell slots and of certain metamagic options, wouldn’t hurt either...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Returns to Monthly With Some Revised Subclasses

This is true, but level 15 is too far away and the ability is conditional. I just don't like the main feature of the subclass to be so restricted.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Returns to Monthly With Some Revised Subclasses

I really like how the bard turned out. However, i still think that the AA fighter should get more uses of the ability per short rest, this way it feels too restrictive. Maybe, change the name of the sorcerer subclass to radiant soul? :)

D&D 5E Mike Mearls Twitter Poll: "The druid gets one of the following: Spellcasting | Shapeshifting | Animal companions. Choose."

Why not ask the question: Should the druid have spellcasting AND shapeshifting OR an animal companion? I would prefer it if the druid was similar to the cleric and the wizard, a full spellcaster. This way the druid is the full caster that focuses on primal magic (is that a thing in 5e?), the...

D&D 5E Will the upcoming UA Ranger subclasses be for the PHB or the variant Ranger class?

Why not keep the extra attack at level five for the ranger and change it at a later level within the beastmaster subclass, while giving the other subclasses a different feature. It seems counter intuitive that a single subclass should dictate the design of the main class and the remaining...

D&D 5E Next up is Fighter, what do you want from UA?

I could see them creating ranger and paladin variants for the fighter, but without them being 1/3 casters. That being said it would have been much better if the base fighter was modeled after the battlemaster, with a baseline maneuver system. New fighting styles, maneuvers and feats would be a...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Druid Circles And Wild Shape

The main problem of the druid unearthed arcana is with the theme of the subclasses. The fey wild druid, being the only one whose abilities fit with the subclass description. However, I would prefer that this druid would focus either on the “wild growth that overtakes civilization” or “crazy...

WotC Wants your Feedback On The Revised Ranger

What I wrote: Overall the new ranger is a huge improvement over the previous version. Natural explorer and primeval awareness are great, especially now that they are not restricted by terrains and the latter doesn’t use a spell slot. For a character who has ranger as the only class natural...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: The ranger, revised... overcompensation?

I am just saying that the non-combat favored enemy part could be made to an early level ranger class feature that applies to all creatures and frees up space for another ability at later levels. Personally, I would prefer if the tracker/hunter aspect of the ranger (outside the hunter subclass)...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: The ranger, revised... overcompensation?

I am not strongly disagreeing with you in both of the things you say, regarding favored enemy always being part of the ranger and that it shouldn't be made a big deal when FE is not useful in a particular situation. However, to me it feels as if favored enemy is "taking up design space" and...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: The ranger, revised... overcompensation?

Overall this new iteration of ranger seems like a great improvement over the current one. However, the only thing I don’t like is favored enemy. Getting rid of situational and restrictive abilities such as favored terrain was a huge step towards the right direction, so why keep favored enemy, as...
