TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

Which is probably fairly relevant to how people like Dinehart and LaNasa's following keep flailing for new rationales. Admitting they're wrong about this issue would mean they might be wrong about many other related issues, and so damaging to their self-image that they'll tie themselves in knots...

Dinehart's claims are really interesting (read: incoherent) when one considers the timeline. Hasbro acquired Wizards in 1999. The notable event for Wizards in 1997 was its own acquisition of TSR. Also, D&D 3E, which he claims they also don't own, wasn't published until 2000, well after Hasbro...

I mean, I know that corporate structures are generally designed to minimize personal personal risk, but come on. "I owe myself a crap ton of money, so I'd better pay myself back before I pay anyone else." I can't imagine piercing the corporate veil will be too tough in this case.

This is definitely in their wheelhouse, and if they get involved, they will do their utmost to find out who sent the pictures and ruin their day. However, they also have a pretty tremendous workload. They're responsible for investigating mail fraud, and as you can imagine, that's a huge amount...

"Yes, your honor. They stole our intellectual property. And they pulled a dirty trick where they published it a decade before we wrote it."

NuTSR just keeps doing dumb stuff, man. We keep thinking they've hit rock bottom and they keep finding more dynamite.

Oh boy, I sure hope Wizard Tower Games and Jedion can cope with being sude by nuTSR.

To be fair to LaNasa, while OSR typically is rendered as Old School Renaissance, that's not always the case. Old School Revival actually predates Renaissance by a little bit, and still sees some cachet. Old School Rules and Old School Roleplaying are less common, but they are occasionally seen...

I think the most likely scam is to try and make them pay for a "license" to keep using the tern. Though it may just be as simple as an attempt to signal to the more regressive elements of the OSR community. "Look, guys, I'm OSR too. They're attacking me, which means they're attacking you too...

EDIT: Hmm, the forum told me the first post didn't go through, so I tried again. Glad I decided to refresh after the second attempt, or I might've triple or quadruple posted.

I mean, on the one hand, delays mean more time LaNasa spends on lawyers. On the other hand, when it actually goes to trial, he's going to lose. He may be okay with continuing to delay, just so he doesn't have to face that loss.

It's weird that they claim Wizards stopped existing in 1997 (the year they acquired TSR) and not 1999 (the year they were bought by Hasbro). But I suppose pesky things like "facts" are too petty to get in the way of their grand theories.

Bigotry comes from a few places. Sometimes its to cover up one's own inadequacies (real or perceived). Sometimes it's just a matter of having been taught to be bigoted as a child, and clinging to that as an adult. Sometimes it's to justify one's current position (no one wants to think they don't...

Yeah. The only reason his idiosyncrasies in his personal posts are noteworthy is because it makes it easier to identify his sockpuppets.

Probably doesn't matter to him. The more I see of this, the more I realize LaNasa's motivations really aren't profit-driven. He has plenty of money from his passive real estate income. What he really wants is acclaim and respect. He wants to be the big guy who beat the wokes who ruined his...

Also depends a bit on expectations. I've had a few Kickstarters where the sold stuff at cons before finishing distribution, but they also told backers that it might happen during the campaign, so we knew what we were getting into. I don't consider that to be particularly unethical.

Here's the thing you need to understand about these guys. TSR? Dungeons and Dragons? Forgotten Realms? All the stuff that defined the games of their childhoods? They think they own it. If not by law, then morally. It should be theirs, and while they understand that legally someone else has the...

Yeah, odds are pretty good that if the prize does exist, it's already going to one of his cronies. Presumably in repayment for some other favor.

So, hang on, did he make that image? Is he posting an image that clearly shows WTG announced their game first, but that they're somehow copying from Dave Johnson's game that was announced like four days ago?
