    Warlock and Sorcerer

the very cheap way of doing this is to just give my arcane type (abjuration, necromancy, illusion, whatever), but then I guess the lists wouldn't feel as tailored as they otherwise would.

    Warlock and Sorcerer

Or the other way around. If they make the bloodline decide what section of the wizard spell list that they draw from then you could have a sorcerer with only illusion, utility spells. So long as they don't have the full wizard utility I don't think it will matter too much what subset of the...

    [Playtest 2] HP thresholds

I say yay and nay I think it is a good mechanic because: it gives small built in bonus to higher hp classes it makes sense for making big boss creatures automatically immune to certain spells that would insta-gib them. It sucks when your boss rolls a nat. 1 against charm monster. it's fast...

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

Right, thanks. What I was misremembering was about sorcerous powers. It says: A sorcerous power is a magical effect that functions as a spell in all respects, except that using a sorcerous power does not require you to speak or have a hand free, and the power is not subject to...

    Sorcerer vs Wizard

So for the past day or so I've been in and out of the sorcerers are better than wizards threads, and I have just notice something when comparing them that I didn't notice if anyone else noticed: The total spellpoints (willpower) that the sorcerer has per day is the same number as the weighted...

    Warlock and Sorcerer

I definitely agree that the sorcerer should have a separate spell list, but I think that it could look more like the bard spell list vs. the wizard spell list from 3.x I don't want to imply that sorcerers should deal only with obfuscation, trickery, and irresistible dancing, but rather that...

    D&D 4E What's in 5e for 4e fans?

What problems did you run into while playtesting?

    Flanking should give a bonus

This is already in the game. Many monsters have this mechanic, zombies just aren't one of them.

    Warlock and Sorcerer

Is there some place where I can find this to watch? Edit: nevermind. I found an audio recording, which is just as good. For anyone else who missed the keynote, I'm listening to a recording at http://thetome.podbean.com/2012/08/17/the-future-of-dnd-keynote-address-gencon-2012/

Archer and Dual Wielder Specialties: What am I missing?

That makes sense. I DM 3E a lot and I agree with the sentiment. I just wasn't clear on how 5E had constructed the 'declare attack. make attack' progression of events. Thanks

Archer and Dual Wielder Specialties: What am I missing?

It seemed to be that literally ALL damage associated with the attack is to be halved. Deadly Strike damage/ Critical Hit damage/ Sneak Attack damage. From the wording, I would say RAI that no damage is to circumvent the (1/2) multiplicative modifier.

Archer and Dual Wielder Specialties: What am I missing?

I think that it is very clear that they are steering far clear of the TWF being the obviously superior damage style. Instead of making it compete with 2 handers or sword/boarders they tried to give it a unique purpose of it's own. In my opinion this is a good springboard because if you make...

Jack of all Trades & Survivor

I want to put this out there because I read this entire thread without realizing and I was thinking that other people might have also missed: Survivor gives another hit dice. This means extra healing during rests, which leads to an extended adventuring day, and to lots of extra hps After...

Archer and Dual Wielder Specialties: What am I missing?

The trick is comparing it with the required damage to kill creatures. Since a lvl1 fighter with this can attack two different creatures that respectively will, on average, go down in one attack (even at half damage) he can clear rooms much faster. Combine this with multiple CS dice he can cleave...

    Swashbuckler/Bravo/Duelist Archetype

I don't see how a swashbuckler is not supported by the fighter class. Let's say you're a wood elf (because +dex). Hopefully you get about a 16 on your high stat and you use your +1 dex (wood elf) and +1 dex (fighter) give you an 18. This mean you have an 18 in your 1) armor stat 2) attack stat...
