How many times can this monster constrict?

Ok, but just say two characters with no improved grapple are fighting. One has three attacks: first attempt to grapple is repulsed by the AoO. For the next attempt, does the usual rule of only one AoO per round apply? ie., no AoO against the second grab attempt?

How many times can this monster constrict?

That is fascinating, and at this level of rules, I wonder how many DMs pick that depth of sophistication in a fight...up. I didn't. Didn't notice the Lamia Noble had improved grab. In his one opp to grapple, the monk batted away the first grab, then he MISSED on the following two grab touch...

How many times can this monster constrict?

Thanks for reminding me of the iterative attack penalty! This will ever so slightly weaken our twelfth level monk who simply starts grapples and defeats her enemies...forgot her iterative attacks are not as powerful... thanks again

How many times can this monster constrict?

Dear Colleagues, A Lamia Noble may: Constrict (Ex) With a successful grapple check, a lamia noble can crush a grabbed opponent, dealing 4d8+6 points of damage. This constriction can be combined with its Wisdom drain (Will DC 25 to negate while constricted). Now, it has a base attack of +15...

Expedition to the Demonweb Pits - any advice? SPOILERS

yes, all good all good. having the "out" after killing Grazzt is a very big DM tip. currently, the group has a couple days in Sigil before the Council, and so is very heavy into divination. They're getting lots of tips from good old Dolgan (Moradin). We're very much enjoying this Adventure...

Expedition to the Demonweb Pits - any advice? SPOILERS

Agreed, this is a tough adventure Yes, the Charnel Hound ALONE almost TPK'ed the group. the Jaunter was following them at a distance and stepped in to teleport them away. For the Finale, that they are nearing, I believe their only chance of survival is to lay low all the way to Grazzt, kill...

    Flyby, liftoff?

now that is interesting... A grab/touch attack from invisibility...Now, normally of course, w/o improved Grab (in this case) the target would get an AOO...but, if the grab/touch is a surprise from invisibility...no AOO? simply touch (easy here), win grapple (zero problem vs this gnome)...then...

    Flyby, liftoff?

Dear Reader, I'd like to do a fun sneak attack on the adventuring party, but don't think it'll work. Currently, a Nycaloth is shadowing the group, and wants to kidnap a member. Looking over his stats, it seemed clear that (in a city setting, in the street as the party moved about), he would...

    Demonwebs, dominate, and gaseous form

thanks! that would explain the goofs here.

    Demonwebs, dominate, and gaseous form

re: gaseous form, the module also says that when below 10 hp they will go gaseous so as to be safe from most attacks. I had assumed then that this meant that gaseous was somewhere along the line of incorporeal, and that swings at the Yochlol in such a form would likely pass through. However, a...

    Is a bane weapon aligned?

wow, yes that is rather strange. we're in the web with the 'demon quelling sword', but in addition to having to enlarge our barbarian to use it more properly (that's fine), we now have to align weapon as well! strange. man, every once and a while the properties of high level monks impress in...

    Is a bane weapon aligned?

If you fire a demonbane weapon at a chaotic evil outsider, yes you do extra damage, but do you get past its DR 10/Good?

    Demonwebs, dominate, and gaseous form

Playing Expedition to the demonweb pits, loads of fun, some questions. re the adventure. In the whispering corridors, the map shows a tunnel going around the silver door, but elsewhere it sounds like one literally leaves the main tunnel, gets attacked by sporebats, then climbs back in on the...

    13th Level Epic Adventure?

Good Fellows, In the wake of Red Hand of Doom and now half way through Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, I have become a huge fan of these mega-adventures. When the group is finished with Lolth, they'll be around 13th level. WotC does not seem to have any of these adventure/books at such a...

    What? A Grapple Question? no!

So this monk is even more powerful? If the 11th level monk has three base attacks (I know flurry of blows doesn't count here), she can attempt to pin THREE times per round?

    What? A Grapple Question? no!

And one more (lot of grappling last night) monk successfully began grappling with a mounted horseman. we ruled she basically climbed up on to him. Next turn, she attempted to 'move' him, or 'make him prone', and we did this by an opposed grapple check, with a +4 mod for him due to his being in...

    What? A Grapple Question? no!

AND, can a Rogue sneak attack an opponent pinned by an ally? this seems to be every bit as good as flanking someone, if not better.
  18. W

    What? A Grapple Question? no!

It seems to me that a monk can attempt to 'grab' and start a grapple as many times as she can otherwise 'attack', but that once this grab is successful, and the opposing grapple check has been won by the monk, with damage caused, that monk's turn is over. Yes? *I understand that in the next...

    Jetlag and Planar Travel

HA! so KISS, and Normal time is normal time everywhere in the multiverse? I must say, it was rather fun having my characters step into a portal at 10pm, come out in Sigil at 9am, and, by lunchtime...need a nap!
