Bump; but also, there is no mention of this at all on the WotC sight; therefore, I'm taking a skeptic's approach. When WotC announces the sale on their own site, I'll believe it.
For myself, I like the "flying islands" approach due to the influence of painter/designers Michael Parkes and Roger Dean; there is also a great but little-known novel "the Shattered World" which gives the flying isle setting a good spin.
A player in my game plays a very similar character (LN Fighter with a merc concept); his eventual goal is the Warlord PrC from the Kalamar Player's Guide. I highly recommend it.
