Svimohzia: Sell me/ Unsell me on it...

Svmiohzia isn't really an Africanesque setting. Yes, the Svmiohz people are black. The similarity, IMO, largely ends there. However, a campaign set in Svmiohz wouldn't mean buying a lot of KoK books. The Campaign Setting and the Player's Handbook are all I really use. And mostly just the...

    HTE 2: Character Control

First, I let it fester over the course of several games, usually punctuated by a lot of glaring. Then, at some point, I do something ridiculously passive-aggressive. That'll learn 'em. :) Seriously, not much. I find that annoying people are a part of life- likely they exist in fantasy...

    Hiding Vampirism

Yup. Don't go there. :) Okay, assuming that you're going to ignore my first thought, I have a few *serious* comments. Questions to ponder, really. Are you going with the (nonsensical, IMO) 3rd ed notion that all vampires are Chaotic Evil? Are you willing to live with serious party...

    Gaming in a high-trust environment

And have no problem interrupting an intense moment (combat or RP) to discuss the finer points of whether or not a Monk is proficient with unarmed attacks. True story. Unless I'm walking cold into a game with a bunch of strangers (which I do on occasion), I won't play in any other environment...

How would you interrogate an artifact battleaxe?

Same way you interrogate anyone/thing else. Find out what it wants and offer it, find out what it fears and threaten it. If you can figure out a way to do this when you have it psychologically offbalance, so much the better. Sure, it's an axe, but it's a sentient axe. Unless it's omnipotent...

Write a letter to your favorite game. . .

Hmmm.... -------------------------------------- Dear D&D: Much like Metallica and Johnny Rotten, you're pandering for popularity and have lost much of what made you once special. Stop it. -------------------------------------- I like this. Especially the fact that the proper nouns are...

Harpoon: delusions of grandeur or DM nightmare

...And call it a pilum, and then sell it extensively to the Roman Legions. Although, the barbs weren't usually used to inflict more damage upon removal. This was life, after all, where one sword wound was generally enough to dispatch a foe, rather than a dozen. The barbs were used to lodge in...

Will the Cleric still be an absolute requirement for a party?

Interesting how the concept of magical healing has become so ingrained that people can't imagine having a party without it. And yet, what other kind is there? High level characters heal naturally more slowly than low level characters (what with having more HP, but regaining them at the same...

Do creatures really follow the same rules as PCs?

That awful mess of Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. Stormfront Studios came out and said that there were two "d20 rolling" routines. One that rolled normally for monsters, and one that rolled low for PC's. Such an awful, awful game.

    Plans to upgrade/switch?

I'm not trying to be pedantic. If you mean "upgrade" in the Microsoft sense, as in "Here's another product to buy, even though you really don't need it", then the answer is no. If you mean "Will I play 4th ed", then the answer is probably yes. Borrowing someone else's books.

    Plans to upgrade/switch?

I suppose it depends on what you mean by upgrading. I will not be buying any 4th Ed books. WotC is once again releasing a version that appears to be designed to sell another round of books, with any improvements to the game being incidental. I'm getting a little tired of getting soaked for...

    Sensory Feats

I agree about Diehard in theory. In principle, I prefer feats to help prevent getting to negative HP. Which is kind of the idea here- think of it as extreme proactiveness.

I'd forgotten about that one. I like the idea, too.

I do, and Improved Initiative is a freebie option when I level next. Seriously thinking about it, too.

Normally Spot and Listen checks are the DM saying "Everyone roll me a Spot/Listen check". IME, of course.

    Sensory Feats

I had considered Horizon Walker for the Darkvision and the Blindsense at a higher level. Plus, it's appropriate, as this character has already been through most of the non-Planar terrains listed in the PrC. The only thing I don't like (and this is stupid) is that Endurance is such a...

    Sensory Feats

I'm playing a character in a Midnight campaign, and I'm trying to come up with sense-enhancing feats. I took Scent in his heroic path, and for feats took Improved Scent and Uncanny Scent from Savage Species. He's got really good Spot/Listen scores, but I'd like to flesh out the unnatural...
