Did This Prove to be True?

Yeah... See, the thing is that WotC gets paid when people buy books. If they don't release books, people won't buy books. WotC learned what T$R learned. If you publish it, they will come. Or am I being overly cynical?

    Y A M B Q

I say no. Analyze Dweomer is divination upon magical effects, not upon the mind of the subject of those effects.

    scry, buff, teleport...initiave?

Why should we depend on the rules to get rid of game problems? And why wait for 4E which, I'm sure, will introduce a whole new nest of irritants and problems. First of all, Scry is pretty gimped from previous versions, and there are a fair number of ways around it. Anticipate Teleport (I...

    6th level tank

OP is definitely the DM. Suppose I should go into a little more detail- especially since none of my group hangs around ENWorld. :) The setting is Kingdoms of Kalamar, and the group has just *seriously* mangled some long-term plans of the Church of the Flaymaster. You don't need to know...

    6th level tank

I need help with a 6th level bruiser for an upcoming encounter. Should be something Fighter or Barbarian based. 36-point buy, and capable of dishing out serious damage to one or two targets. Not looking for a Death-Of-A-Thousand-Papercuts, but a high damage output tank. No warforged, nothing...

    Book of NineSwords

That's the impression that I got. Now, I did also catch that maneuvers can only be used once per encounter without refocusing (or whatever), so it seems like another class with a powerful attack that can be used a limited amount. Rather similar to a Duskblade like that. And some of the ninth...

That was an awesome derisive laugh... :)

    Book of NineSwords

Since this has probably been done to death, simply posting a link would be great, but on the offchance... I'm not normally one to complain about rules/classes/spells/etc being "broken" (with the exception of Scorching Ray), but the Sublime Path classes in Bo9S seem so overpowering to me...

Faerie Fire & Hide in Plain Site

By the RAW: No effect. FF does not list a penalty to Hide, nor does the SRD state that it prevents Hiding. According to the description, all it does is eliminate concealment bonuses. Common Sense: Wait- what am I thinking? This is EN World.

    What the heck is CircvsMaximvs?

    Nuts- you're right. <foreheadslap>

Cue the Choir (Final Battle music)

Bridge of Death by Manowar (Actually, a lot by them, but BoD is downright creepy) Anything by Rhapsody (cool symphonic heavy metal) Therion's Deggial album Iced Earth's Angel's Holocaust/Pure Evil/Stormrider (All off Night of the Stormrider)

    duskblade-- too powerful?

So, at least for me, a case of Art imitating Life. :)

    What the heck is CircvsMaximvs?

It's also a game set in FASA'a old TOG setting. Based around the old Roman chariot races, and insane amounts of fun to play.

    duskblade-- too powerful?

Huh. Hey- look at that. Guess it helps to read *all* the words on the pages. :heh: Thanks

    duskblade-- too powerful?

And I know that this post is old news, but I just got done making a Duskblade for a new campaign 8/day? The PHBII that I'm looking at says 3/day. How is an Int of 14 giving an extra 5 spells? And for that matter, where is Color Spray coming from? It's not on the Dusblade spell list on page...

Ever had a piece of art inspire a character?

No, but most of my favorite characters were inspired by music.

    Evil PCs?

The only way to prevent player vs. player friction is to remember that it's a game that you're trying to enjoy. A badly-played Paladin zealot with the backing of an inexperienced DM can be just as bad.

    Evil PCs?

A few thoughts: I played a Neutral Evil character in a basically good party. He was an utterly selfish, amoral sob who didn't care one whit about anybody but himself. He was also smart enough to not show it. There were a pair of fighters, one human and one minotaur, who could end him in a...

    Flaws would you...?

Would I? Depends. All I know about the flaw is the game effect, which isn't enough for me to decide one way or another. Many years ago, in a 2nd ED ToEE game, I played a Ranger dying of some illness. I wanted to play a character who wasn't concerned with danger, because he's dying. He...

How to counteract a Disintegrate-happy PC?

Forgive the obvious, but... Disintegrate? Used in tandem with Split Ray? And sudden Quicken? And Sudden Maximize? To quote the great philosopher Linus van Pelt "He who lives by the dirty rotten little drop shot, dies by the dirty rotten littel drop shot"
