    Ploymorph

For a Psychic Warrior, and maybe other "unarmed" specialists, the Girralon rules bigtime ... with 4 claw attacks, and a bite, more str as the troll, and more speed. Imagin a HUGE Girralon (psw using expansion) with 35 str and 4 claw attacks with Claws of the vampire ;)

Monks wearing armor ... what penalties ?

To get back to the issue ... as a DM or player, to what abilities do you think the monk wearing armor should get the arcane spell failure penalty ? After some discussion we thought the following: - wholeness of body - abundant step - empty body - stunning attack - quivering palm The other...

Monks wearing armor ... what penalties ?

It is actually the other way around ... claws/bite etc are unarmed attacks ;) PHB page 140 under "Armed" Unarmed Attacks. Even if monks are not proficient in the Unarmed Strike in the normal weapon table. They have an Unarmed Strike of their own that is much better ... why would they want to...

Monks wearing armor ... what penalties ?

thx for the reply Why would evasion (ex) call for a roll ? It states it can be used in light armor and is the same as the ability from the rogue, which doesn't need an arcane spell failure roll ... Has anyone read anything "official" or Q&A about this ?

Monks wearing armor ... what penalties ?

I understand the things about Wis to AC, level AC bonus and heightened movement, but ... A monk wearing armor loses some abilities, including "favorable multiple unarmed attacks per round" ... is this the improved unarmed attack bonus chart, or also the ability to use "flurry of blows" ...

Octopus has land speed of 20'

Something just as odd .... did you see that the Dire Elephant has a Climb Speed of 10 !

    Dragon Disciple...WHY?

I am comparing, but between the template and the PrC. The template doesn't seem worth being 4 lvl's behind to me. The PrC does seem worth taking 10 lvls in to me, but not if you put the bonus spells in sorcerer. No apology needed, just brainstorming here :)

Help! I've been REINCARNATED as a BEAR

It's probably because of balance issues, and to keep it easier for the DM. Getting four attacks with one limb would be very powerfull for some monsters. Also, if you allow monsters to make additional attacks with one of their natural weapons, why not allow them to use ambi- or multidexterity and...

    Dragon Disciple...WHY?

Plz read my posting again ... or should I have sayd: "Start the PrC with sor1/clr7, any race but dragon..." I think it was pretty clear ;)

    Dragon Disciple...WHY?

Why would you want to be a high level sorcerer ? Start the PrC with sor1/clr7 and get all those divine powers, later take 2 more clr levels and add lvl 5 bonus spells ;) Taking the halfdragon template has never seemed worth it to me, being 4 lvl's behind in HP/feats/skills. With this PrC you...

    Grapple Question

Here's another question. The rules for armor spikes say that "They deal 1d6 points of piercing damage (X2 crit) with a successful grapple attack" So, is that *any* grapple attack? This is just the case when you make a grapple check intended to do damage (as with an unarmed strike) "Step 1...

    Grapple Question

You can make a grapple check for each attack you get for your BAB. So monsters with 10 attacks (10 arms), can still initiate only 2 or 3 grapple checks if their BAB is low.

Help! I've been REINCARNATED as a BEAR

Creatures using their natural attack routine never get additional attacks. It is explained in the DnD-Faq (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/DnDFAQv09062002.zip) at the beginning of "Combat and Initative".

    Monks and Magic Fang

I think the 'magic fang' should effect only one appendix, and think the rules point to this. Also, if a monk is just using that one hand, no others, he should get a penalty to his attack, just as with holding an item in one hand.

    Grapple: Light weapon clarification

Any creature can use light weapons (which include unarmed attacks, PHB page 140) to attack in a grapple. But then you use your normal weapon attack role. If you want to do "real" damage with an opposed grapple check you have to have Improved Grab or Snatch or a similar feat (or be a monk).

Melee vs Ranged attacker -- AoO?

Yes, AG can make an AoO. BG could make a 5-ft step ;) There is no feat to negate this (as far as I know), but there are some prestige classes with the special ability to negate AoO from firing from within threatened area's.

Do psionic power reserve points "stack" or "overlap"?

You need only one reserve pp ... but I can't recall where I read the rules about that, sorry. It's from Q&A's with Bruce Cordell.

    Improved Unarm Strike and Grapple

Oh, but you HAVE seen comments from someone who plays a grappling character ;) I play a Ran1/PsW9, who is specialized in claws/grappling, using his "Claws of the Vampire". Feats: Ambidexterity, Two-Weapon Fighting, Tracking, Power Attack, Cleave, Improved Unarmed, Improved Grapple, Speed of...

    Improved Unarm Strike and Grapple

The Improved Grapple only gives you a free grapple check when you hit with a normal attack, not with a touch attack. If you want to grapple someone who is wearing a big armor, making a touch attack to initiate the grapple, you still get a AoO from your opponent. We decided IG can be used both...
