If it's the DM's job to make sure the players have fun...What is the PLAYER'S job?

That's the biggest thing for me I think. Character actions should, while staying in character, work to drive towards the narrative of the game. Whether that be some overarching story, group goals in a more sandbox style game, or fun combat in a hack and slash game. Or all three of course. But...

Now you have to go and be serious. But yes, I agree with this. Strongly.

It's Not the GM's Job to Make Sure People Have Fun

It is everyone at the table's job to help enable everyone else at the table to have fun. That's why it is a game, right? So is it the GM's job? Yes. Is it the player's job as well? Yes.

    Happy Town Canceled

I was starting to really get into it, as was the girlfriend. Seems like it really didn't even get a chance.

I quit 4e-DM after my first day.

Stories like this are why I'm a big fan of having a group template before starting play. It should be hashed out how the characters know one another, why they trust each other, and what their group goals are before you have the first game session. Keeps everyone from going nuts on everyone else...

    Supernatural season finale (Spoilers)

They renewed the show for a 6th season a couple of months back actually.

Modules, it turns out, apparently DO sell

As someone who doesn't really play any version of DnD, and doesn't run adventures, preferring more sandbox and character focused games using Savage Worlds or Burning Wheel or FATE, I still sometimes buy Pathfinder adventures. Why do you ask? Because they make for interesting reads. I have zero...

    Supernatural season finale (Spoilers)

That was my take on it as well. Overall I like the episode. The very ending was a doozy though.

    Percy Jackson Novels...any good?

A lot of my friends in their mid 20s really enjoyed the books. I tried reading the first one and just bogged down a couple of chapters in with the writing. Just didn't do it for me. On the other hand, I enjoyed the film and all my friends hated it, so there is that.

    Neptune's Pride

I heard this mentioned on the Gamers With Jobs Conference Call podcast the other day and meant to check it out but it slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me. Going to check it out now.

    Iron man 2 (no spoilers)

I enjoyed it. The first one was better yes, but I think a lot of that was because it caught everyone off guard with how great it was. This one had a lot more to live up to. And for me and pretty much everyone I saw it with, Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer made this film.

Please help me find a new gaming system!

Savage Worlds, with possibly FATE as an alternate choice.

    Roleplaying is fun!

These aren't exactly mutually exclusive you know? But yeah, RP is good when it's fun. Rules are good when they are fun. Gaming is good when it is fun.

Uh, no thanks, I'll play this instead.

Games I won't play: Talisamn, Arkham Horror - I put these together because I have the same problem with each. What is a fun game play experience for the first hour and a half turns into drudgery for me when you are still doing the same things two or even three hours later. Both of these games...

Sanctuary - it's based in New York City, right?

Yeah, I was making a bad joke. I actually enjoy the show, but the need to CGI everything except for "found sets" gives me a headache sometimes.

Wait, you mean there are scenes that aren't CGI?

    An incredible game review article

To be fair, those sports fans don't come across as any more socially adjusted than the people who commented on this article. And no, that doesn't mean it is okay.
