No more Firefly - what next?

I'd like to second the recommendation of DS9 IMO its easliy the best of the Star Trek series, by a long margin. It has better character development, especially in the recurring supporting characters .

Firefly: A latecomer wonders what Fox was smoking

just got mine My set from Amazon showed up Friday just before I was heading out of town for the weekend. I was busy last night and only got to watch the first episode. WOW! I was duly impressed. I remeber watching the Train Robbery when the series premiered and thinking it was ok, but the...

Song of Ice & Fire Discussion:What do you want in the next 3 books? (SPOILERS)

I don't know much about publishing, but Martin has stated several times that a Storm of Swords is just about as big as they can make one book. He wants A Feast for Crows to be about the length of a Clash of Kings, but admits it will likely approach the size of aSoS. Persoanlly I like a long...

    [August] What are you reading?

Legends II showed up on Friday so I took a break from Vance, which is going a bit slow, to Read the Sworn Sword and get a George RR Martin fix. :)

Dragons of Autumn Twilight - Much Enjoying

The last Dragonlance book I read was Dragons of a Summer Flame, which is sort of what you might call a sequel/epilogue to the Chronicles trilogy. It was pretty good in and of itself, but I could have left things as they were after Chronicles and Legends. I also read Tales 1 & 2 and they were...

Song of Ice & Fire Discussion:What do you want in the next 3 books? (SPOILERS)

From everything I've seen from George, he still hopes to keep it to 6 books, but admits it might be 7. His partner Paris is convinced it will be 7. I believe he originally planned for it to be a trilogy when he started out writing it, but he quickly found that was not going to work. ;)...

    [August] What are you reading?

Well, as someone who considers himself a serious Fantasy reader, there are a few gaping holes in my library. I thought it would be nice to fill some in, so I just got Tales of a Dying Earth by Jack Vance. Its past time I read those books.

The Da Vinci Code: A Guilty Pleasure?

I was totally engrossed in this book. I think I read it over a couple of evenings and found it to be a real page turner. Granted the character development was lousy but the twists and turns in the story, backed up with just enough historical fact/and or conjecture (w/ some misinformation too...

    Elminster Novels

Those are two different series. The Avatar series was written in conjuntion with the change from 1st ed to 2nd ed. The "author " was Richard Awlinson, which is a pseudonym for 2 or 3 different authors, I can't recall who atm. Shadows of the Avatar came out several years later at least. That...

    Elminster Novels

Run away! Oh no please don't tell me you like Ed Greenwood's writing. As a product developer he was outstanding. As a novelist he makes Baby Jesus Cry. I really tried to read him. I gave him every oppourtunity to prove he could write fiction, but he is just plain awful. Every book I read by him...

What sorts of fiction do you like?

I havent read Earthsea since the mid 80's. I know I enjoyed it then but it was some of the first fantasy I had ever read outside of CS Lewis and Lloyd Alexander. I don't recall much of those books anymore. As for Deathsgate Cycle. I read them as they came out. I was a big Weis and Hickman fan...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 Trailer

I got it to work by downloading it. I believe it was a left click on the player window then a right click...or the other way around. It gave directions. I don't have a subscription either. Oh and it looks pretty cool! :]

[July] What have you been playing this month?

I havent done a lot of PC gaming since I kicked my Everquest habit over a year ago. I did finally get around to finishing NWN and am working on SoU with HotU awaiting me yet. I put in some good time on the Xbox playing Heros of D&D and was pretty close to finishing KotOR on Xbox when my console...
