D&D 5E Help: Getting rid of spell slots

There's a spell point system in the DMG that may work for you.

    D&D 5E Paladin Predictions

Oath of the Coven that has some warlock style powers. Oath of the Dragon a section of paladins that serve a ruling cabal of dragon sorcerers. Oath of the Sail. Paladins that pledge to keep the roads and trade lanes going so that society can thrive.

D&D 5E IDEA: Actually bounded accuracy

Thought, would you allow a high level barbarian to get a total of +11 to go along with their 24 (22?) strength? If not, you've pretty much invalidated a class feature of the barbarian.

    D&D 5E "Charge Up" Mechanic: A problem for D&D

Rough sketch here Fighter: Tactician You are skilled at maneuvering your opponents through steady practiced moves and counter moves. Before your opponents know what hit them you are striking the final blow. Lvl 3: Whenever you hit an opponent you gain one tactical point. If that attack is a...

    D&D 5E Finesse Paladin - Opinions Wanted

I wouldn't worry about this too much. It's doubtful that s/he is going to build a Dex paladin so the the two of you will be playing different enough characters that you won't step on each others toes. Especially if you go the swashbuckling 3 musketeer type. Oath of the Ancients is pretty...

I homebrewed Reinhardt's Rocket Hammer from Overwatch. Would like some opinions.

I'm only passingly familiar with the character, but I think you should decide if you want to allow your players character to become Reinhardt or to have a hammer that does thematically similar things. Does every one of those effects come from the hammer itself? The wall doesn't seem like a...

    D&D 5E Death Ward

I would say no. I don't see death save as an in game effect that the spell would protect against. A death save is an out of game mechanic to represent the naturally evolving state of the characters current condition.

D&D 5E Warlock, Pact of the Blade, Melee

Armor of Agathys can't be topped off with false life or other sources of THP. If you read the spell, it says "these" temporary hit points not just having THP. So once your THP from AoA are gone, it doesn't do damage anymore. Plus THP are always replace and not additive. So if you had 6 from...

D&D 5E How exactly does a Paladin break it's Oath?

I can picture an evil oath of the ancients paladin being someone who would kill anyone threatening beauty and art. Similar to the bad guy in Serenity. "I'm making the world a better place." I could also see one that is the type that would be considered totally insane by modern standards and...

D&D 5E What if clerics cast like warlocks?

I'd argue that this is one of many ways of looking at it. Another is that the higher agent shows the warlock a secret to learning power and the warlock gains the rest of it on their own. I favor this viewpoint since nothing about a warlock compels them to obey their patron and there is nothing...

D&D 5E Fixing the terrible Weapon Master feat

As just an observation on viewpoints, I wouldn't make NPCs with feats except in the rare exception. To me, NPCs follow the standard monster rules and aren't PCs so my world doesn't have a bunch of lvl X this or lvl Y that NPCs around. So it would be rare for a PC to come across someone like...

D&D 5E Warlock, Pact of the Blade, Melee

I'm not sure if I've posted here since it's a necro, but the blade-lock I've been planning is very reliant on spells and abilities that aren't available to other classes. He'll start as a F1 specifically for heavy armor and the great-weapon style. 2nd wind fits thematically too. Then warlock...

    D&D 5E GFB-Inspired Cantrips

Granted there is a small sample size, but the current spells each have a unique rider to them. GFB adds damage to an adjacent opponent equal to the number of bonus dice plus the spellcasting ability modifier. Against only one opponent this bonus is lost. Booming blade adds a rider that if the...

    D&D 5E Is he evil?

Once he surrenders he may be considered a captive attempted murderer. He could even still be considered a threat. Depending on the law of the land, the PCs may be completely justified and social charged with executing him. They may not be committing murder but instead upholding law, order...

    D&D 5E is a Fighter/cleric etc less powerful using a shield

I do find it interesting that being proficient with a shield does not include using it as a weapon. As I understand it, using the shield as a weapon was a common occurrence in battle, whether simply bashing or striking with the edge.

    D&D 5E Is he evil?

For the most part I can agree with that but I think it comes back to the campaign itself. Medieval/wild west/loose justice then the bouncer would be well within their rights and could even be expected to draw steel. More modern sensibilities maybe not so much. But I think that borders too...

    D&D 5E Is he evil?

To me a bouncer pulling a short sword is not a bouncer doing their job. They just transitioned from bouncer to attempted murderer. A short sword is not a weapon of subdual. If he pulled out a club or baton sure, but not a short sword. That's the modern equivalent of a bouncer pulling out a...
