Anyone know of a website with instruction on building a secret door in a house?

    How about http://www.hiddendoors.com ?

The "3.XE/PF Crowd" - where will they go? What will they play?

I'll take a gander at the core rules for 5e, just as I did with 4e. Granted, neither 2e nor 4e inspired my imagination in the way that 3.5e does. If the game is geared solely for dungeon crawls, I'll pass. If it allows for world building from day one, color me intrigued; making stuff up is half...

How many RPGs do you own?

I dabbled in Traveller and Gamma World for a time, but D&D has been my main focus since 1979. Since 1995 I have run 4 campaigns, two were 1e, one was 1e that switched to 3e, and my current game is 3.5e. I also have the Pathfinder PDFs but have not run a game using that system yet.

    Christmas One-Off

For inspiration, you might want to listen to some of the lovely holiday music from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, readily available on YouTube. Then feel free to stat out a gargantuan figgy pudding.

    Christmas One-Off

In my games, the krampus is a "male hag", the offspring of two night hags conceived while one was shape-changed into male form. They are natural-born hag-killers and are prone to capturing young hags and imprisoning them in a misshapen "cage" of bone which extrudes from their backs. In this cage...

Lots of short games or one long game?

For the past five years I have been running my 3.5e undersea chat-based game on SUnday nights. Before that, I ran two play-by-post campaigns for several years each. In-between the PbP games I ran a chat-based game via AIM for over a year.

    Why is realism "lame"?

This. Rooted in Reality. You give the players something familiar to latch onto as a springboard, then add fantastical elements as the icing on the cake. Envision forests of branching coral the size of mighty trees, stretching upwards toward the surface atop mountainous seamounts. Or perhaps a...

    Full-time DM, Part-time Prep

Absolutely! For my undersea campaign I draw inspiration from reference books, documentaries on Discovery and NatGeo, and a plethora of websites like deepseanews.com, underwatertimes.com, and montereybayaquarium.org. I also keep saltwater aquariums from which I get loads of ideas. I’ll turn a...

Buyers beware - but not in the usual way...

It could be worse. Where I hung our TV there was a power outlet but no other jacks. I didn't want to run an HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV, as it would have been unsightly. So, I opted for Wireless HDMI . cha-ching

    The Sinking Isle!

http://dvice.com/archives/2012/11/island-shown-on.php "A mystery has unfolded in the South Pacific recently. An island shown on a Google Earth map of the area was no where to be found when scientists went looking for it as part of a geological study of the area."
