Help! A player wants to play "Captain America"

Rechan Please post again if & when you finalize this deal with the player, and let us know how it developed. I am earnestly curious to find out if Captain America is going to take up a new career mugging monsters for their treasure. P.S. One last suggestion. If Cap is a re-skinned melee...

Help! A player wants to play "Captain America"

Paladin seems easiest conversion to me. Change the class features, leave most of the powers the same, but change the names as you see fit. Cap's Challenge for Divine Challenge. Works exactly the same Lay on Knuckles for Lay on Hands. Gives him +2 prof and 1d8 dmg with his fists, but no healing...

Help! A player wants to play "Captain America"

Would using a Katar be close enough to punching for him? At some point, if he's a melee character, I would think that he'd want the +3 bonus to hit. Or is everyone just willing to give him a proficiency bonus with a punch.

    No Flasks of Oil?

I am thinking that it might not be a bad idea to add tanglefoot bags, alchemist fire, thunderstones, etc. purely as part of treasure parcels. Meaning that they could have sale value (say 50gp or so), but aren't available in shops. This way a DM can test out a new item to see if it is wildly...

    Don't call it a (D&D) generator, but...

I downloaded this a few days ago. Biggest problem I've had with it is that the file it makes it apparently too large for me to upload a character to ENWorld. http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=229672

    Pathfinder 1E A nit-picky Pathfinder question

Character was made using Weisbaden character sheet, which can be downloaded from thread in 4ed tools section. It uses Excel workbook format, but I personally have virtually no experience with Excel. She was originally made with standard array scores because she was first done with pen and...

    Ranger/Rogue Paragon Advice

While 4ed Rules certainly endorse scimitar wielding rangers, they do not require it. However, Revinor is right that sneak attacks cannot be done with heavy blades, axes, or any other weapon not specifically mentioned in sneak attack description. I think either a twin short sword wielding...

    Pathfinder 1E A nit-picky Pathfinder question

I tried to upload the .xls file for the character, but I got an error message that it exceeds the 244.1 kb limit for that filetype. I will happily post or send you the file, but I am a primitive when it comes to forums and posting. It looks as if I will need a bit of guidance on how to do...

    Pathfinder 1E A nit-picky Pathfinder question

I admit that I have yet to actually play a single session of 4ed, so you are undoubtedly the voice of experience in this thread (which so far has been a dialogue). However lemme explain the basis of this characters' combat strategy. By looking at various lvl 12 monsters in MM, I estimate...

    Pathfinder 1E A nit-picky Pathfinder question

I thought one or more of the interrupt powers specified must be wielding two melee weapons or a ranged weapon, but I was wrong. I have a slightly different view of two weapon rangers. They are rangers who get the toughness feat as a bonus, can wield full-size weapons in either hand, and can...

    Pathfinder 1E A nit-picky Pathfinder question

Out of curiosity, I used an Excel based character sheet to make up a 12th level ranger/pathfinder to see what such a character would look like. For stats I made Dex and Str equal (both are 19 at 12th level) and most of the encounter powers I selected are interrupts (Fox's Cunning, Disruptive...

    Whats the best race?

At first I thought Half elves were the best because I thought Dilettante gave you a power you could use at will. I have since learned better, and Half elves have gone down in my estimation. I think that humans would be the uber-race if they had better vision. As it is, they need light sources...

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

I didn't think Winter's Wrath would rank higher than Fire Blast, since Fire Blast does slightly more damage and doesn't grant concealment to your enemies (who presumably are the majority of the individuals in the blast). As for the rogue stepping through concealment to hide, as far as I know he...

two weapon fighting without off hand?

I think the rules are vague enough that a DM could rule that a weapon in a characters off hand doesn't qualify as being there for purposes of Two Weapon Fighting, Two Weapon Defense and Two Weapon Flurry unless it has the Off Hand property, or unless the character is a twin blade ranger. I also...

D&D 4E Should hit points continue to be generated randomly in 4e?

For all former AD&D players: remember Exceptional Strength and it's percentile roll? It always seemed to me that when you looked at player characters attributes, significantly less than half would have values between 01 and 50. It also seemed to me that it would be statistically unlikely for...

    D&D 4E What is a "class" in 4E?

I see a 4ed classes as templates for badassness plus fluff (which elaborates on the sort of badass you are supposed to be). How seriously the fluff is taken is up to the DM, since the DM is final arbiter on everything, but I see little reason to take it seriously. I think play goes smoother if...

    Break a Ritual!

You can build a fort and transport it on the disk, but why couldn't enemies tip it over?

    Art of the Peel

Problems with death prone characters aren't always the fault of rules or DM. Sometimes players are to blame. Solution might be for strikers to not stay in one spot long enough to be seriously mauled. Even though this might mean they spend many turns not attacking, especially if they have no...

Help reign in a player who refuses to play his role

I see no reason why the Raven Queen herself shouldn't step in and turn the craven Paladin into a raven for a few weeks. It is an unorthodox punishment, but D&D has a tradition of "bolts from the blue" raining down on difficult characters, because the DM deems it appropriate. This character...

Should players know minions are minions from a rules/tactics PoV?

my 2 cents = spotting minions in the middle of combat should be reserved for characters who either: have been trained in the appropriate knowledge skill or have fought against this type of minion before and seen firsthand how wimpy it is. It seems a bit off to me that people fighting for their...
