d20 March Previews Summary (Books for May)

Can you post info on the Power Class: Cabalist and Power Class: Alchemist classes? I suspect one of them might be the Power Class book I wrote, albeit with a new name. Thanks. Patrick Y.

    Historical source material

Well, this applies mostly to rennaissance Italy (Florence primarily), but I would suggest you read the book "Brunelleschi's Dome". Not only is it a compelling read, it offers real insight into the working of a rennaissance city, it's government and it's people. It also talks at length about...

Would you like WotC or a d20 company to publish 3e conversions of classic modules?

Yes, but those same gamers are too young to really care about the old modules. They don't want to rehash our gaming history/memories, they want to create their own. Patrick Y.

Would you like WotC or a d20 company to publish 3e conversions of classic modules?

I vote No Gamers seem a little too chained to nostalgia. I played the old modules in the 80's, enjoyed them and have many happy memories of them, but now it's time to make new memories, not rehash old ones. Now Return to X modules are ok with me. I really loved Return to the Tomb of Horrors...

    Blind Master Update

Wow. I was having a pretty bad day, truth to tell, but your post cheered me right up. It's very satisfying when you hear people are liking something you've written. I'm very happy that you're enjoying the character so much, and I like the direction you're taking him. Thanks; Patrick Y.

    Best D20 product art wise?

Yep. Which is why she's doing all the art for the Summerlands, Arcane Runes Presses game of fairy tale roleplaying. Have you seen her websiteshadowscapes? Quite a bit of work there, all of it beautiful. Patrick Y.

    help word a wish

How bout: "I wish DMs would remember that it's neither clever nor funny nor particularly mature to attempt to screw with a player each and every time he, through hard work or DM fiat, gains access to a wish." Patrick Y.

    The $40 mark is broken

Greed and limp morals encourage the pirating of $5 books. People that pirate books will pirate them regardless of price. Patrick Y.

    Portland OR Gameday...

Well, if it is at Gamestorm, I'll be there for sure. I'm going to be a guest at the con (I guess they'll take anyone :) ) so I'd be happy to meet any EnWorlders who show up. Patrick Y.

    "Blind-fighting" Prestige Class?

Well, the original conceit of the class was that those characters who select the PrC are blinding themselves to show their absolute and unswerving dedication to the perfection of self. Basically, the PrC plays off the martial arts concept of the inner eye, the spiritual vision that shows things...

    Wizards vs. Clerics

Re: A Not Entirely Serious Answer Mike; Yeah, yeah. Wizards do a lot of stuff. They are movers and shakers to be sure. But ask yourself this: Who always gets BEAT UP by the heroes? The WIZARD. Sure, a wizard stole Blackrazor, Whelm and Wave, but then 5-7th level heroes killed him and TOOK...

    WOTC's research on gaming groups

    1) Yes, they are the same type of bonuses, but there's a world of difference in their versatility. The mobility factor is crucial - rage is applicable in far more situations than defensive stance. 2) The complaint about above 1st level starting PCs is a valid one, but it applies equally to...

    WOTC's research on gaming groups

incognito; Compared to a straight class fighter, a DD is giving up 7 feats. From an optimization standpoint, Endurance & Toughness (especially Toughness) are just plain bad feats for a tough guy/combat monster fighter to take. It's especially bad if the prospective DD character is run from 1st...
