    Does vulnerability stack ?

Untyped ongoing damage does not stack. Only different types stack. (page 278)

Careful Attack/Sure Strike: A mathematical analysis

One does not have to be strictly mathematically better than the other. Look at my attempt at fixing it. +1/2 Str mod to attack, +Str mod to damage. It's now a basic attack with a +1/2 Str mod to attack. That can be better or worse, depending on your Str mod and other factors. It also gets better...

Careful Attack/Sure Strike: A mathematical analysis

What do you guys think of my changes to Sure Strike/Careful Attack? (in the edit of my (admittedly very long) post) It makes them a lot more powerful than they already are, but I think that's a good thing...

Selling items : illogical rule ?

Okay, assuming you could do that, you make them at retail price, too... how is that fair?

    Mild Speculation

When I first read this, I read this as "Maybe for Shadow they'll call them at-will umbrellas and daily umbrellas." That made me laugh out loud. Very hard. For about five seconds. Imagining those at-will umbrellas... :D

    Weapons choice math question

I think you mean +2d8, right? ;) But yeah, I'd go with the dagger. And then into Daggermaster, because it is full of awesome. If you didn't know, sneak attack damage is maxed on a crit. Also, look into a wraithblade weapon (Ashen Covenant)... it's very nice

Selling items : illogical rule ?

Actually, it's worse than that... If you make a magic item at "market price", you sell it at 1/5 "market price"... in other words, you lose money by investing the time to make something... Personally, I dislike the whole system of losing money when you sell items. They've made so many things...

    The 18 INT Warlord

I think that the 18 Int Tactical Warlord is definitely worth it. You have a 5% chance of not hitting when you would've on every attack you make, but your bonuses are so much bigger... on *everything*. In my build, anyway, almost every encounter power and daily relies on intelligence, and give...

    Dual Implements

Yes. You can benefit from the properties of both implements, and use either to attack with.

New Rogue Build found in Compendium - Ruthless Thug

Aww... I was hoping they'd put some more up. I wanted to see what the ranger would get...

    Does vulnerability stack ?

    no problem :)

    Math of Blade Cascade

No, a 20 is always a hit, just not always a crit. If you would've missed even with the 20, then it's just an automatic hit, not a critical. If that ever happens, though, you're probably completely screwed in the encounter... or trying to hit a minion with incredibly good defenses (high level)...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

Yes. I agree. Of course, you also use your orb on the boss, and of course have spell focus, so a little more than half are going to stay stunned, and the boss will probably stay that way for a while (-11 to the saves will do that)...

Flaming sphere, what happens when you get pushed into it?

Actually... it says "any creature that starts its turn next to the flaming sphere takes... damage". Next to = inside, unfortunately. When the errata came out, people were discussing this... It actually seems like it could be a good protection for the mage (or any other ally).

    Does vulnerability stack ?

Short Answer: It depends, but in that situation, no. Longer Answer: If the vulnerabilities are to different types of damage, then yes, they "stack" in a sense. In other words, if an attack does fire and radiant damage, and the creature has Fire vuln 5 and Radiant vuln 5, then they'll take 10...

Careful Attack/Sure Strike: A mathematical analysis

Yea, I was trying to come up with reasonable versions of Careful Attack/Sure Strike myself. Note, however, that the differences in the power between the at-wills is dependent on the weapon used and the attributes of the characters. For example, if you use two daggers with 18 Str for twin...

Why is Firestorm the best 19th level control spell?

I disagree, mainly because I don't consider Firestorm "control". It does damage, pure and simple. Evard's Black Tentacles is a very nice spell from what I can tell (haven't played with it). It stops the opponent's movement until a succesful save and does okay damage to them while they are...

The command prayer rubs me the wrong way sometimes

I'm confused as to where this even becomes a problem... The mechanics are quite clear as to what happens. If the fluff ever leads to a contradiction, then the fluff is wrong. It's only when the mechanics lead to a contradiction that something is wrong. It's very easy (as shown above, which I was...
