New 'how old are we' poll

Wow, those numbers sure point to disaster. Less than 10% of those polled are under the age of 20. That's bad. Myself and almost everyone I know started playing in out early teens. At this rate, D&D will be a game for old-timers within a few decades. I'm not entirely surprised, what with the...

    Electronic Die Roller ?

Can anyone suggest a good electronic die roller? I use my laptop during gaming and it would really speed things up. I'm especially interested in a system that would allow macros so I could pre-program NPC/monster attacks.

    Clerics and Spontinaeity

IMC, we used to play with "open spellbooks" which meant clerics could freely cast any spell they had access to, wizards could cast any spell in their spellbook, etc. It's great in terms of flexibility/creativity. Nothing's better than having a player cast a spell with creative effect in a...

    Non-violent cleric type?

    Thanks! That looks great.

    Non-violent cleric type?

I've actually already got the religion all fleshed out, it's more the class/feats that I need to come up with.

    Non-violent cleric type?

I'm looking to create an order of clerics in which the females are healers and the males are protectors. I've got the females done but I need a non-violent male cleric with an emphasis on protection and non-violence (w/o intruding on the healing sphere of the female clerics). I don't want to use...

    My Fix to Scry-Buff-Teleport

Why don't you just let the party use the scry-buff-teleport tactic a few times to kill their enemies and then have the same happen to them. Fair is fair. After a TPK, the party will get the picture. IMC, wizards rarely seek out instant death spells cuz they know that will invite the DM to...

    Mass Arrow Fire?

Here's how it works in Complete Warrior. Group of archers fires at target area equal in size to their own area. Full-round action. Single attack role by the commander of the archers using only BAB, Int mod, and range modifier. Concealment and cover do not apply (unless target has a roof...

Increasing the incentive for using advanced combat

Personally, I think the advanced rules are good enough as is. IMC, advanced combat rules weren't used very often until lately. Now, people are clueing in to taking the appropriate feats to maximize the potential of advanced tactics and the results are pretty devastating. Disarming the villain is...

    Mass Arrow Fire?

I don't think this is covered by the rules. How would massed arrow fire work? For example, a warband of 50 orcs all fire their bows at the P (not picking any particular person, but instead the area the P is in). Making 50 rolls is a pain in the ass. And how do you determine which arrows are...

    Printing Spell Sheets

Do a search on "steve's spell sheets." It's an Excel table that allows you to pick spells from a variety of sources and then compile them into a document. Only down side is that it doesn't have all the latest spells (i.e. Miniatures Handbook, BoED, etc.).

Dealing with choices after they have been made

I think your DM probably made the right choice. He designs the campaign afterall, and if he thinks ET is too powerful, well, he should know better than anyone. I think it would have been much worse for the DM to say, ah well, and let it go cuz the problem would continue to affect the game...

    Evasion as item cost?

How much would the Evasion property as part of a magic item cost? It would function automatically for the wielder of the item (a lance) but only against the breath weapon of a dragon (restriction cost reduction?).

    Mounted combat?

That's what Mounted Combat is for. Negate the attack! Negate the attack! Of course, they should have made an Improved Mounted Combat feat that would let you negate more than 1 - maybe like Combat Reflexes...

    Log-in Failure to Remember ?

There was a post a while back that discussed what to do when the board doesn't remember that you logged in. Could someone tell me where that post is? I checked the FAQ and general board...

    Monk wi. Staff Disarm ?

I can see an argument for having to declare all attacks beforehand when using a flurry of blows due to the speed of the attacks (I would house rule that way), but I don't think the rules specify that anywhere...

    Monk wi. Staff Disarm ?

Thanks for the quick response! A couple clarifications: that 1st-lvl monk using is using flurry, right? And when you refer to the monk using both ends of the staff (for example), are you referring to fighting with a double-weapon (staff)?

    Monk wi. Staff Disarm ?

As a follow-up to my previous post, I noticed a couple things. Monks (or any class) that disarms with unarmed strike suffer a -4 penalty b/c unarmed strike is a light weapon (bad!). Using a staff to disarm grants a +4 bonus b/c its a large weapon and Improved Disarm grants another +4 bonus...
