My solution (and it's pure theory at the moment) is to do as you say and halve monster hp, but in a different way. When they get to Bloodied, they become a minion. Requires zero book keeping. Allows for Bloodied effects to still go off, and death effects too. They are still a threat unless...

In my game, they aren't seperate planes exactly, they are geographically part of the world. Its all about territory really. However, your question is one that I want to answer in game, probably at the end of the heroic tier. Then its about picking sides, then about prosecution.

Something that has all the tiles and minis in the box, three poster maps too. I'd like to see the adventure make use of rituals, artifacts and minions. Not fussed about the tier. If we have to revisit old scenarios, I'll plump for Desert of Desolation please.

Have you looked at H2? It's wide open! You basically have a city-state to play in, of which 3 parts are fully mapped out. what else could you need? If you want somewhere to rest, then clear out some rooms. Lord knows there's enough empty barracks now my group have been through the dungeons...

Took quite a few outraged posts before we got to anyone who'd actually read it... :) I have read it, and although I enjoyed it immensely, I did get the feeling that the author rather regrets his gaming past. That's a little sad.

Do dry or wet erase markers work with them?

When I started out with 4e I really wanted a little help with monster descriptions. I never upgraded my MM form 3 to 3.5 but often wished I had because of the neat 'what the characters see' fluff. To be honest, with some monsters I was at a loss with what their powers were meant to represent...

This argument has been going on for the entirety of D&Ds lifetime and the answer is always the same: the magic happens at your table, not in the books. However, there is mechanical support for more flavour in your items in 4e: Artifacts. I'd love to see a whole book of these, including loads...
