D&D 5E Everyone Starts at First Level

I felt the absence of some sort of "you kids today with your hip-hop and your story-based level advancement" post. In some games, levels should be earned through victory, not through narrative. But anyway... As I thought about it, I realized that in the old 1st edition games I remember, the...

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

See, this is the kind of post where you lose me completely. I can't really penetrate your meaning, nor can I picture how you play any version of D&D that way.

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

Depends on how much definition is given or assumed. For example, the Barrier Peaks (in Expedition to the Barrier Peaks) is very clearly a location in Greyhawk. But it's not really a defined location with story elements, it's a generic place on a map.

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

I think you may have a point here. (I'll think on it some more.) I think your comparison about orcs vs. drow and their respective baggage is apt. I do suspect this is another example of a continuity/shades-of-gray issue where the line of division between the two is set differently for...

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

Sure, that would count. Although it would be pretty minor if it's, say, a wandering encounter instead of a plot element. Now, does every book you claim references Planescape include a direct reference to a faction of Sigil, spell keys, or the other things I mentioned earlier? I suspect...

D&D 5E My Players Are Building A Dungeon (And They Don't Know It)

Do NOT let your players pull the lever that releases the lava.

D&D 5E Inappropriate breasts on female monsters

Maybe we should start a thread about "Appropriate breasts on monsters". Like how to butcher a cockatrice or something.

D&D 5E Inappropriate breasts on female monsters

I disagree with what you've said, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

    D&D 5E D&D 5e death and consequences?

When you mentioned this last time, I saw a potential reason for the difference in experiences. If you go into the Player's Handbook cold and ask "What do I want to play" and answer yourself "How about a cool fighting dwarf like in the Hobbit?" - you go straight to Dwarf, Fighter, write down the...

D&D 5E Inappropriate breasts on female monsters

That's not the same reason at all. Mermaids need buoyancy.

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

Since you define everything about the planes described in 2nd edition to be "Planescape", you would naturally see it everywhere. What about "Lords of the Iron Fortress" (which I do not own) references "Planescape" by your definition? If it mentions Sigil, gate towns, spell or gate keys...

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

We've been over this with you - you're conflating "Planescape" with "2nd edition D&D planar material / the Great Wheel" and throwing in your own assertion that the Planescape material somehow demand special treatment in canon. Other people have argued these points with you at length, and yet...

D&D 5E The Multiverse is back....

Your arguments go around and have many interesting points, but you keep returning to this blind assertion.

    D&D 5E "I have a 45 Strenght!"

Well, by definition - whatever the highest possible strength in the game is, Thor is slightly stronger than that. At least while wearing his stuff.

D&D 5E Inappropriate breasts on female monsters

Since we're striving for realism here, I'm sure you all also agree that WotC should move D&D back to the days of limiting female characters to a lower Strength score too, right? ... do I need a sarcasm tag here?

D&D 5E as a new DM, how do I handle a group of wanna be thieves?

Put them in a location where you don't mind them thinking of the locals as the "enemy". Design a city with evil merchants and a worse government, where the good people don't have anything worth stealing. Make your local police a worthy (evil) adversary that the players can feel victorious when...

D&D 5E "Monster density" and wilderness settlements in D&D campaign worlds

Vikings were farmers too. Raiding was a hobby, or perhaps a sideline business. IANAHistorian, but I believe their real advantage was simply that they were better sailors and could attack "out of nowhere" and retreat where they couldn't be followed.

    D&D 5E D&D 5e death and consequences?

That's an interesting side effect of the level change to Teleport. I wonder if WotC considers that a bug or a feature?

D&D 5E "Monster density" and wilderness settlements in D&D campaign worlds

I dunno - being a raider is like being a large predator (like a lion). You have to kill something to eat every single time. You can't afford to fight something that could even conceivably kill or badly injure you. On that note, the food chain on most D&D words is just as out of whack. Can...
