    Professional GM Diary: Final Preparations

Apparently he came to his senses and shuttered his project in a thread over at rpg.net. It's been an interesting story to follow. If he's a troll, then he's my favorite so far.

Can't help but feel like people are waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop, when I think it has already. I predict the battle's over, except for a little "but, how?" melodrama on the part of the dragon. In the grand scope of the story, V's physical fight with the dragon is totally...

Thank you for pointing that out. Who cares what spell s/he casts? Hir caster level is over 9000!

    Professional GM Diary: Final Preparations

Best of luck to you, please let us know how this turns out. Questions: Did you mention to the cafe that you were charging to run a game? Also, have you considered requiring RSVPs? Do you have any contacts from GM'ing at cons that you could use for endorsements or advice?

One thing that bothers me lately about 4E players

Hey guys, why don't we assume for a second that he's not flaming? What Black Knight is saying is true. People kvetch about mechanics when they ought to ask for help instead. People don't do that for 3.5 because the rules have been discussed to death already and little new material is being...

The concept of 3 evil souls housed in a neutral body--it's almost like a metaphor for the IFCC itself. Like they're trying to see if the three different alignments can be fused together accomplish something. I think V became the conflict of Good vs. Evil's equivalent of the Manhattan Project.

CRs/ELs -- apparently the designers don't read the rules they talk about (old thread)

I think encounter design is much easier in 4E than 3.5, but neither is very hard to begin with. I find myself fudging dice rolls to save/wreck the players less often since we began playing 4E, for what it's worth.

Ah, but that would destroy the ambiguity. So much of comic would be lost, just to settle one little argument. It's a tribute to his craftmenship.

What do you think the new setting will be, from Ampersand?

I also think it will be Dark Sun. The novels might not be a positive indicator, but taken with the hazards article they published way back, I think we have a clear favorite. The timeline syncs well enough, too. I really want it to Planescape, though.

I don't think anyone but Rich Burlew could have conned fantasy fans, who ought to be aware of the finicky and vague nature of prophecy, into arguing over the exact meaning of a prophecy. Well done, Maestro! For what it's worth, I used to be sure that the 4 words were said to Kubota, but this...

Mearls talks about how he hates resistances

I can't help but think Mearls is making his arguments using assumptions predicated by Arcane Power material. As it is, it's only just possible to create a pyro-cryo-elctro-mancer in 4E. Currently, there's just not enough diversity of powers to make a thematically appropriate choice at every...

With a subscription to DDi Character Builder, buying a PHB2 isn't necessary.

Scott, Character Builder is what sold me on DDI too. My group started our campaign at 20th level, and after getting used to the program, I find that one can usually create an entire character of that level in the time it takes to generate ability scores for that level by hand. It's changed the...

The key is that V the length of servitude is related to the length of the soul splice. V will never be able to walk away from that kind of power. Never.

    The Edition Wars Atonment Thread

The purpose of this thread is to give a place for those dysfunctional community members to come and ask forgiveness and hopefully begin to change their ways. I'll go first. Dear EN World, I am guilty of posting horrible flamebait screeds in several threads over the course of a year and a half...

    Dice Bag...

Did you employ any special technique piercing the die in the pic on your site? It seems like it would be tricky, but it looks really cool.

That's a really cool way to approach the comic. I especially like that you can use the characters' personality to infer things about the people playing them. For example, Haley's player is not only really greedy, but also kind of a rules lawyer, which fits a 2nd generation player who knows the...
