    D&D Minis on the Decline?

I agree with you; to a degree, there's going to be some dishonesty about shipping rates, but ebay actually has a way of reporting this kind of abuse, so there's no reason to put up with crap like shipping $20 minis in an old Axis and Allies booster or unsleeved cards in a business envelope...

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

This is actually a good point. The original contest was posted in this forum and I believe Najo wanted to keep things consistent. Plus, the prizes are 4E books and the idea had it's genesis in a blog post made about design direction in 4E. So it's sort of related.

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

I actually think all of these are strong entries. Sure, they are a bit more powerful than the current feat, but was not the point of the contest to redesign an weak feat so that it is more viable? Kudos to A's writer, whoever wrote it, because that's a design I'd have never though of. Very...

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

I'm curious as to whether unregistered votes will be counted or ignored. Since no mention ws made in he original post, I'm led to believe yes, but this opens up a loophole for fishy behavior to occur...

How D&D Was Saved and Made It To 4e

Caused? No. Made exponentially worse? Yes.

How D&D Was Saved and Made It To 4e

Yeah, but those problems are manageable until you introduce a zillion new spells, prestige classes, and magic items that expand a character's so-called options.

Pathfinder 1E Paizo making a decision

Am I just crazy, or does this sort of evoke the college of cardinals choosing a new pope? I dunno, it just feels so mysterious... Anyway, here's hoping they stick with 3.5! It would be nice if somebody stuck around to give me my D&D fix...

Slate article on Gary's legacy (Merged with Gary Gygax Slandered)

I really don't think anybody should waste their time reading it. I actually buy the conceit of the article (Gygax is not the greatest game designer ever) but enough of this article is trash (because Steve Jackson is not the greatest game designer either) and the presentation is sooooooo bad that...

    D&D Minis on the Decline?

While I can't speak with much certainty, I must confess that I suspect the same thing. Something I've noticed is the steadily declining price on several high-profile minis. For example, Giants of Legend's Huge Red Dragon used to go one ebay for $60-$80. These days it usually goes for about $50...

Jason Bulmahn Speaks about DDXP(His take on the system)

Even as I am not going to switch to 4E, I do think there will be a wide range of powers to use. The convention format makes it impossible to give the full experience; after all, they must save some things for June.

    Need help ASAP

The Burning Plague, off of Wizards's website, is an excellent introductory adventure, but I don't know how dungeon crawly you might find it. Basically the party saves a town from a plague started by a half-orc druid who's hanging out in a mine.

D&D 4E 4E: The day the game ate the roleplayer?

I think that depends on the kind of player getting involved. I doubt any of the people I've taught D&D recently would go to a convention. Oh well, guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. However, I do think we can both agree that the newcomer primarily wants Adventure (with a capital...

D&D 4E 4E: The day the game ate the roleplayer?

Somewhat of a digression--- Now, has anyone successfully sat a new player down and intrigued them with rules? I've never had anyone come up and say, "I want to learn about Iterative Attacks and Vancian Casting". On the other hand, when I talk to friends about Haunted Castles and Forgotten...

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

Man... D&D is the superlative method of enjoying the company of other nerds. It's like nerd-ball. Cheap, flexible, rich with tradition and very easy to become passionate over. God willing, I'll play forever. The other thing that really struck me was when I realized Gary Gygax actually posted a...

Request for Dedication to Gary Gygax

An appropriate tribute; even if I believe that it would be to Gygax's chagrin that RPG design philosophy had drifted from what I see as his vision, the man believed in the game and those who played it. So does Wotc.

How many takers did you get on this offer, out of curiosity?

    D&D 4E I have seen the coming of 4e...

I didn't go to Experience. Everything I'm saying is based on what I've read. That said...I am impressed by the new layout and the simplicity of the system, but not enough to uproot my game and buy new books. I make saving throw v. shinny. The fluff breaks with my vision of a good campaign in...

WotC has a milking machine now (Draconomicon I)

I think this was a mistake. One of the best parts of the Draconomicon 3.5 was that it really felt all-encompassing. That made the book viable for all levels and environments. Plus, it had an excellent balance of game data and flavor material. Limiting this project to 5 different dragons...

    Respect for the DM?

Take a week off. Seriously. Refuse to service their boneheadedness. Let them know they'll have one chance to retain your services as a DM before you close shop entirely. Around here (Richmond, Va), DMs are pretty rare. If you're in a position to leverage your talents to get what you want, I say...
