What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

Out of curiosity, what do you do when you encounter players that want some crunch to grab onto?

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

Got it. They are like Aspects. I thought they were like feats or other individual crunchy bits.

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

No, but Elven Upbringing and Aura of Divine Authority are both, mechanically, meaningless.

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

I see. Thanks for the explanation. While I agree that something like this will help reinforce the genre, mood and milieu, I am afraid it would make it harder to know, intuitively, what those things actually do mechanically, for me. I prefer stuff that is clear and concise.

Can you explain what you mean by "evocative language" here?

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

I think I am finally settled on the same. In theory I want neat subsystems that are laser focused on the thing they are trying to adjudicate (social combat minigames, or whatever) but in actual, real world, at the table play, I just want to be able to call for a roll (or not) and intuitively...

It's my birthday, give me ideas for modern Mage: the Ascension game

Wouldn't it be interesting if LLMs were a plot by the technocracy to ensnare people into interacting with tech-demon entities?...

I would hate to see what happens to air sharks that can't fly.

What do you, personally, need a system to do for you?

As player or as GM, what aspects or elements of the activity of engaging in a roleplaying game do you, personally, need the system to support or do with mechanics and rules? What parts of play do you NOT need the system to do, or actively do not want the system involved in? What game systems are...

    Trailer Superman Full Trailer

"What's so funny about truth justice and the American way" was a single issue reiteration of the core story of Kongdom Come. It was a great stand alone story and introduced some interesting characters, but it wasn't a new idea.

D&D (2024) Should skills for a campaign based on the 1800s be different from standard D&D

D&D is so anachronistic and modern anyway, I don't think there is anything that demands a new skill between 14th-ish vs 19th-ish centuries. The biggest difference between those eras is whether there are guns (and its impact on armor). But if guns aren't a thing, I wouldn't worry about it.

It is totally fine that you have decided to.use personal preference based definitions that don't reflect how things actually develop. Just don't expect other people to accept them.

Yes, it does. There is a HUGE amount of design happening in the OSR space, and that space starts with OSRIC.

I am not unbiased. I have Superman tattoos. I believe Superman actually MEANS something, beyond entertainment. This trailer made me so happy I legit teared up.

Daggerheart Reveals Ranger Class Preview (Exclusive)

You know, maybe it works better to start with the fantasy that is presented and fill in the gaps, rather than to complain that it doesn't match your old, staid, dare-I-say boring interpretation of what fantasy "should look like."

Innovation isn't just about mechanics. RPGs are an industry, so creating new venues of development and sale are Innovation too.

This list is making me think of games that should have been influential, but weren't. The first one that comes to mind is Everway.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

You guys are on your own. I can't believe this thing is still going.
