It's how to make the most of them imho. I don't like spells with say a 1 in 3 chance of failure. Hit multiple targets odds are a few fail saves.

I don't like single target save or suck. Also target the right saves. I like twinned spells, upcast level 1 spells and things like slow.

They're even bigger buckets of hp and outside of missing types thro saving throws are still mediocre. Makes them very vulnerable to buffed spells especially low level ones.

Wouldn't argue much vs that statement. My players figured out heavy armor is bad long time ago. They generally have 14 dex medium armor especially clerics. Espicially when they have to use a bow and you have 8 or 10 dex at best and throw weapons with disadvantage.

The issue wasn't they exist but you let the be bought in bulk on the best weapon types. Vicious one handed weapons (not twf ones) or bows they're fine. Vicious daggers probably fine as well maybe scimitar. One PC had to sign a infernal pact for her staff.

Sorta. Inflated monster HP overall still results in an overall nerf I suppose.

You can get similar numbers now without the -5 part. Vicious weapon+great weapon master feat. Or dual wielding smiting paladin.
