D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Speculation though. Odds are they won't go full ISR. They may borrow elements of it. Eg bit more gritty or dial down the complexity. Depends how 5.5 pans out. Need a cool term that means the contradiction between enjoying OSR games to DM and 5.5 as a player.

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

I do ask my players what they want to play. It's how I get to run Star Wars and 2E. RPG stuff is also expensive here and I don't have a tablet or whatever for pdfs. I prefer paper and in person. When I started 2E was more than a weeks went for phb. No Amazon sales, and 3 books from USA...

They don't interest me much tbh. Alot of titles you hear about online either are unavailable locally or expensive. My interest I'm other RPGs is low to begin with. Mist genres I'm not even remotely interested in to begin with *sci gi, horror, super heroes etc). I've been hearing about...

Jeremy Crawford Also Leaving D&D Team Later This Month

Yup. Facebook D&D group does allow recruitment for other RPGs. As long as it doesn't get out of hand. 2E group gas 6 players but I've got 2 5E groups (sone overlap). Ex player from 1995 tagged me last night. 4 players looking for DM. "You can DM over zoom". My response. "I recall you...

Most players don't even know they exist. Not D&D games I've had most success with is Star Wars. Specifically the legends side of things. Knights of Old Republic game you'll get players generally.

4E is still a problem. You're just replacing a 3.X fixed feature for a floating one (which ramps up complexity). Does fix 3.0 ranger problem though. Here's my fighter 1 ir 2, ranger 1, Barbarian 1, bard 2, hexblade 2, cleric 2 type builds (they were mostly theoretical but still). My...

D&D (2024) The New Direct Damage Spells You Should Be Using.

Yeah mind slivers probably the best cantrip overall competing with Eldritch blast. I lije the magic initiate feats a lot so it's an easy pick up. Main problem is how many attack cantrips you need. I have a Warlock build that has 13 odd cantrips low level. Think it gas 6 or 7 attack ones for...

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

Some adventures work better different edition. A lot of 3E obes are in that category.

Way I see it. I also like Lorraine's era better product wise.

    D&D (2024) Fireball is a C Tier Spell

    It is. That's why it's C tier vs D.

It's not about the most damage though. And yeah ray of frost is better than firebolt.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

Yup. Big ones like that were spell dcs vs saves scaling and they basically nerfed the fighter. They also removed spell restrictions but didn't really change the spell. Eg harm.

If I was a designer in charge I would at least consider killing off open multiclassing. I would survey it at least though. Have a survey at end of article laying it pros and cons. As a player it's great. As a designer it's making my job harder.

Need a fancy title. But as DM B/X is great. As player probably 5.5. 3E and 4E are to far down complexity road.

Makes life easier for DM. Of you want to play above level 12 for example develop a taste for older D&D or find a different DM. Or pull out your wallet. I suspect I play higher level more than most groups. Higher level here being 8-12. I suspect I play more D&D than most here. Due to those...

What videogames are you playing in 2025?

Wife has switch. It's good for casuals and if you like Nintendo games. Ganes are expensive. She also bought a portal for the ps5. She plays BG3 on that. PS5 is better than Xbox. I say that as an Xbox fan. They messed up this generation. Xbox has one big thing going for it. Gamepass. You...

Makes sense though. Late 2E had good modules though. Proto modern adventures turned up then.

2E dragons and giants were buffed a lot. Along with fiends as well. Probably more. Dragon breath also got redone. I think Gold Dragon was about the lowest it went outside obscure books. There is lower but I can't recall what it was. 2E dragons about the scariest dragon have ever been. On...
