Apparently, the Al-Qadim Monstrous Compendium was somewhat rare, and hard to acquire. I remember folks on the Al-Qadim list back in the day lamenting it's lack of availability. I have one, though. :)

I'm probably a little late to this thread, but in my mind: E6/E8 + Artificer's Handbook (spell slot system) - XP (removed from game completely) - Druid - Monk = nearly a perfect game, IMHO.

I can't guarantee that I'll own the 4e book, or even that I'll even know what I'm doing, so if you'll tolerate beginners in your game, sign me up.

Just with a few mechanic tidbits. Like maybe you had a really high tolerance to poisons, and so something in your background gave you a +1 to save vs. poisons. I made a character using Central Casting years ago, and the GM gave me a +1 disease save. I don't think it ever came up in the game...
