D&D (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

Yep, Archfiends typically had a good deal of MR in 1e. Demogorgon had 95%.

I might suggest Forge for Melkor too. Or whatever corresponds to making terrific monsters!

D&D (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

A version of this one: post #83 With a version of this explanation: post #11 I am busy this weekend, but plan to get this updated with version 4 next week.

D&D (2024) Best 5.5 Mechanic They Should Use More IMHO

Here is the thread you are referring to: Magic Resistance: What was Old is New And to answer your question I have not playtested any of the methods yet. I actually haven't even revised the OP with my preferred method derived from the discussion in the thread!

D&D (2024) It Is 2025 And Save Or Suck Spells Still Suck (the fun out of the game)

I don't think it was an issue of fairness, but what is fun. No one, PC or DM, likes to do nothing for a turn. That being said, this has never really been an issue for my group (for the PCs or DM).

D&D 5E My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

That was my thought as well.

D&D 5E My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I was really wondering why multiple modrons of the same tier can't "help" each other.

D&D 5E My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

OK, that is not how I was understanding "swingy," but that makes sense. Follow up question: how do things like Bless or other modifiers work in the aura?

D&D 5E My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I don't follow. If there is no die-roll, how can it be more swingy or swingy at all. It is the same on every roll. That seems like the opposite of swingy or am I missing something?

D&D 5E My Take on the Modron (Houserule)

I love the idea. My only question at this time is: why limit the group mind bonus to the higher CR modron? Is there a downside to giving any modron the benefit?

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I am always sad to see someone leave as well (and sometimes try to convince them to stay). I do not know who you are talking about, but I hope they find there way back. Once we realize we don't have to engage, I think the discussion becomes a lot easier.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

It is frustrating. I know it was a problem I have had before and worked to change. Now I generally try to take the attitude that, in most cases, people are only talking about their opinion even if they do not state that.

    D&D (2024) Tiamat Unleashed

I am just about finished with updating to the 2024 CR values and I have made a few other changes too. I am just having a hard time with the revised full Primoridal dragon version of Tiamat. Once I get that nut cracked I will post the updated PDF. PS - Welcome to EnWorld!

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

Maybe, but @Micah Sweet did say: "...makes no sense to me..." They are clearly framing it from their perspective not a universal statement. And what is or is not verisimilitudinous is subjective of course. I don't think we need to defend our personal perspectives on this subject.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I'm not @Micah Sweet, but from previous conversations with them I am pretty sure that they don't want the game to tell a story at all. In their mind, I story is simply what manifests when you talk about the events of the game after the fact. So the story is a description of the events in the...
