D&D General Eastern Dragons in 5e

Very cool ideas. However, I wouldn't want eastern style D&D dragons to so closely resembling actual RL mythologies and beliefs. I would rather see a new and fresh take. D&D dragons only take inspiration from western dragons, I would prefer they do the same for eastern dragons as well...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

all fingers (roughly) IMO. I mean, that is what they are so it is hard for me not to see it. however, in particular a hag or similar creature: Also, most images of the black don't have the wing fingers quite so elongated

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

I feel almost 180 degrees differently than everything you've stated here. But that is OK, having different opinions is what makes life great. FYI, Both 1e & 2e have the eastern style gold good. I know, you have mentioned it before, I just don't see anything but the fingers of a hand when I...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

The gold design is one of my favorites. I only wish they had completely removed the wings like the 1e/2e version. I don't see anything spider-like in the black dragon, but they don't trigger me so perhaps that is it.

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

I have actually been putting the finish touches on it over the past few weeks. I need to revise my Tiamat stat block (full primordial dragon form), add some new hazards and two new monsters (about 75% complete), and then do a final editing pass. Oh, and update at least one piece of art. I would...

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

I actually disagree with that. IMO, if the dragon was on all 4 legs its body would fit in the circle and its neck and tail would overhang. This is how a dragon should be represented in mini IMO. Body conforms to the "size" and neck and tail conform to the "reach."

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

I am not overly fond of the silver in the preview. To me its neck is a real chonker (as you say ;)), distractingly so. The neck makes its body seem small and stubby to my eye. I much prefer the silver concept art:

I think a companion book on the guild with dragon stats would be awesome - I may have to do that! Now, if I could only get a list of the highlighted dragons in the book!

I realize that this is probably to late for your adventure, but Venatus has a Skiffs & Skycoaches map pack:

D&D's The Book of Dragons Comes Out in August

That was definitely true in 1e and 2e. In 1e the gold was 10-12 HD and the red 9-11 HD. I am not sure about 3e, but starting with 4e the gold and red have been of equal status (one of the many things I liked about 4e) and that continued in 5e. 1e 4e
